ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    H22a Type-S

Hopefully next week i will be purchasing a 93 accord sedan with a H22a with LSD tranny in it. I'm going to be paying if off for a while so mods are going to have to wait. I've been researching H22 type-s pistons and i was wondering if i were to put them in the H22a would i see a noticable gain in power? Would i/should i do any other mods if i did this swap? And would i have to do any modifications to the block? I'm also considering buying a H22a block and building it up with Type-S pistons. If you have one or have pistons i may be interested in them depending on the price. Thanks

You can get Type-S pistons on Ebay for like $250. You also need the cams and a good tune. Good luck.

If it's a JDM H22 then it's 10.6 compression vs the Type S 11.0 compression. In my opinion you're doing alot of work for a 0.4 CR increase, which is nothing. I would spend your money wisely and purchase better camshafts for your H22, improve the intake flow overall (intake, TB, intake manifold), then improve exhaust. If you still want to burn money, get headwork done. Get a good tune and do it up, blockwork is not worth it IMO if you have the JDM H22.

don't use type s cams with anything but a type s.....not only are most type s cams regular h22a cams, but they're designed for a MUCH different head than what the regular h22a has.......so you're not getting the full benefit for a big chunk of money and there is accelerated wear too.......

the type s pistons are a waste....you can mill the head and swap to the manual timing tensioner setup and do just as well with less work, because while the head is off, you can do a valve job, put in cams, p&p or whatever......

does it have the auto timing tensioner or the manual tensioner, because if it's milled, it really should have the manual tensioner or you may end up needing a motor soon......

it has the auto tensioner on it right now. Why should it be converted to a manual tensioner, whats wrong with the auto tensioner?? also how much would it cost to convert it?

Well i did my research on the auto tensioner and i'm seriously considering switching over to the manual tensioner. I found a good write up on it with a parts list. All the parts total up to around $155, right from honda.

my friend who is an acura technician and is building 2 h22's for his own rides says he doesn't seen how the autotentionners can even really fail and has never seen it happen.

i think it's one thing that may have been blown out of proportion.
