ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Bent suspension

Ok, I've had something bent in my front, right suspension for a while now, but in the next few weeks i'm gonna swap out my bushings and wanna fix what was bent. Just one issue, I have no idea what was bent. You guys know of any tricks that will help me figure out what's wrong? And it's not an uber hardcore bend part. The car pulls to the right, but just a tad bit. And I can't do an alignment until that's fixed. help!

how do u know its bent and not just out of alignment.

you basically have to look under and compare to the other side to find out whats bent, sometimes you cant see it.

my buddies car his whole lower control arm was bent, and my other friends car you can barley tell that his tie rods were bent.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

    Retro!

it could possibly need an alignment or have you already got it aligned once? i would look and if you dont see any noticable bent suspension part take it to get aligned and see if that helps any.

Wheel gap is noticable. And it used to rub on the mud guard so I had to take that off.

        Left wheel gap - ( O )

        Right wheel gap - (O )

Sorry, no digicam so can't get pics.

I have the same problem but with both wheels pushed back. The frame could be bent. I think they call it a caster alignment to fix this problem.

Well, I kinda nailed a curb. Snapped the CV axle so I replaced that but then it was pulling and I already went through a set of tires prematurely due to the wear. So now I just wanna fix it! Damn you curb! Why couldnt you be rounded like Sacramentos?!

try to check this problems...i knoe what ur talking about.....cause it happened to one of my boiz car and i gotta fix the dam thing....check your radius rod...it's a bar shape that bolts on the the lower control arm and to your front crossmember...........that's the onlee reason for your tire to get pushed back...u'll notice what i mean when u start replacing that cause the radius rod holds ur lower control arm and tires in place....

Hrmm...i'll check that. Also, I replaced the crossmember and it was a bitch and a half to bolt back up. So I think that is what's bent. I remember it now that I think about it.

Also, i'm thinking about just redoing my whole front suspension and getting the parts from http://stores.ebay.ca/Arm-Can-Auto-Parts . Now, would it be better to get those and then new poly bushings and swap it all out since there might be more than one thing bent? Or just get the Radius rod if that is in fact bent and just the new bushings?

                    heh....

Well, make that TWO sets of tires! That's right. Just had a flat while going to get some groceries. Grrr...and I didnt have the right size socket to change it! I had the spare, the jack, and the OEM socket size, but not the one for my rims.

Thought I would share my frustration. Oh well. I just think of it this way: Better now than tomorrow when i'm trying to take my GF to work.

Ok, I found this. and I wanted to know if you guys knew if it came with the lower control arm and radius rod? I know it has a list on there, but it also says that it includes EVERYTHING NEEDED for a front end suspension rebuild. So i'm kinda confused. I sent an email to the guy I believe yesterday morning or the day before and havent gotten a response.

Yes yes, I know. Tripple post. I just really wanna have everything set up properly before I try something too extreme. IE: Turbo.

Sounds like a bent radius rod, or possibly a damaged front crossmember. I hit a wild pothole and had the same problem...changed my crossmember and the said radius rod and the problem went away; both wheels are in alignment. For a temporary fix you could get some pipe and something to stuff the pipe with just to pull your wheel forward...but you should really just fix it.

Glad to hear you fixed your problem! Thats gives me hope that my car would be on the roads again, I havent touched it since the new cb7 and its been down for more than a month! How hard was it to change the crossmember?

No, not at all. You have to disconnect the front dogbone mount and remove about 12 bolts/nuts total...8 on the crossmember and the 2/side connecting the radius rods to the LCA. Get an extended 17mm socket and you'll be good to go.
