ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I am planning to lower my car, too. But the mechanic charge me 55 bucks for eack spring/shocks. So that would be 55 X 4 = 220. That is a lot of money. Then I download the accord service manual and I also look at the DIY spring install from this forum. It really is not that hard if you have the right tool. I might buy spring compressor near in the future and ball joint press since I might need to change the ball joint.

I am also confused about the variety of shocks and springs. What about dropzone spring and dropzone shock combination? Is it good? I also was thinking about kyb gr2 shock + skunk2 spring, would that be a good choice.

    Any suggestion

    Thanks

From what I have heard, the KYB GR2s are a shock replacment, not an upgrade. Skunk2 is OK. Try Eibach/H&R/Sprint springs with Koni Yellows or Tokico Blues.

So, the KYB GR2 are the replacement of the stock shocks? What about dropzone shocks, are those replacement for the stock, too? The Koni yellows and the Tokico shocks are pretty expensive. I also was thinking about tein s spring or h&R spring. Eibach pro kit are too expensive. But still I need to get new shock if I want to use progressive spring.

Does anyone ever use dropzone shocks + springs? Because on ebay they cost 330 including shipping.

In comparison to other brand name shocks, the KYB GR2s are along similar lines as your stock shocks. You won't get much improvement in ride quality if you lower the car. Koni/Tokico are some of the best you can get. They will however cost you in the ballpark of $250 plus install (if you get shop to install) just for them.

How much of a drop are you looking for?

That is the same drop I am looking at. You can acquire some Sprint springs for roughly $100-$130. Since you said your stock shocks are crappy, you would be FORCED to buy 4 new ones which will eat big time into your budget.

Here are some links for you to look at. Might give you some ideas.

Just a few I grabbed real quick. Too bad about your shocks. If they were in good condition, you could snag some springs and you would be all set for awhile.

not for long...drop= increased spring rate= more wear on stock shocks set for stock spring rate= having to take springs back off to replace shocks....makes more sense to save up a little more and do your suspension all at once.

I've heard KYB GR2's are good..... a little stiffer than stock. Can't you get a set of KYB AGX(adjustables) for just a 'lil more? -->This<-- says that the Tokico's ride sucks. Personally, when I get the $$$ to lower, I'm going to go with Neuspeed Sports on KYB AGX. I could go cheap now and get some springs, but I know that it'll truly be an upgrade if I wait and do it right with good parts.
