ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    To H22 or 2 turbo

Watsup cb7 peeps, I have stock f22 engine and I have a problem, I desire more power but I dont wanna blow money by doing the wrong mods. The f22 that I have in my cb now is fine it has 115,*** miles on it. What swap would be safer 4 me 2 do? H22 it or just turbo it with moderate boost

do a compression test, that will tell you how your f22 is holding up...

if you want boost go f22... if you want the h22 go h22... we cant really say what one is better as people will argue both sides

People have preferences as mentioned DO WHAT YOU WANT.....DONT DO WHAT OTHER PEOPLE TELL YOU TO DO. But IMO either one is good so I cant decide.

I'm a n00b and from what I've been reading, well I knew this before I came here but Boost will cause reliability issues for your engine. Naturally aspirated route(H22 swap) will give you stock reliabilty. That being said its up to you. NA and reliability, which is probably the most expensive out of the two. Or you could boost, many people can help you out piecing a kit together from a DSM eclipse, which would most likely be cheaper than the H22. SO really its up to you how much are you willing ot spend for that extra power

turboing the f22 would be cheaper but its all up to you. What are your goals for the car?

Well I just wanna be noticably faster but I wanna do it the right way. Dont get me wrong f22s r pretty good engines though there about 2 decades old and minds doesn't have major problems, but its lovely 2 feel that vtec or that turbo pushing u back in ur seat. I just wanna do the safest swap possible...

Well it just depends on you. There's more work in going turbo, and more time checking on your engine, and if you dont treat your engine right with the h22 than the same thing can happen there. Do you have another daily driver if the turbo cb goes wrong?or do you want something you can just crank up and go? Just do some more searching and your come up with the best solution.

                Well lets break it down,

your f22 has low miles on it, and i suspect that with low miles, your running good compression. Turboing is very unsafe to the average person, who doesn't really know turboing and can cause a lot of problems down the road. However, swaping in an h22 isn't much easier. You need alot of mechanical know-how as well as time and experience.

i hate how people say boosting is cheaper..it certainloy is not..if your gonna do it right..the parts you can find cheap..but a good tune...then the problems you might have down the road...you may not even have problems..but dont go this route if your gonna be cheap..or dont want to spend money

Its too late some of them already have joe. Ontop of that most of them think its easy but what about down the road when they are left stranded or when their car starts actin all crazy and they need to get to work because its the only car. Then if it blows theyll have to swap it out with no options left to get another motor. On the other hand the h22 even thoug hthe same thing may happen there im more for reliable power. Most of you guys on here live in the sticks anyway . Im a cityboy so I gotta have my reliable options Id be damned if i gotta walk way across town with no public transmportation damn that.

                      I've been through this already...

To make a long story short, I went with the H22...Why?

                      Simple...

You are boosting your motor. The thing already has 100,000+ miles on it. Do you have x-tra $ incase something breaks? How much are you working with?

I had a budget of $3000 but ended up spending $4000 b/c of unplanned stuff.

                          I'll admit...

The only reason why It took so long for me to decide was b/c I wanted the "Pssst" sound. And if you have turbo, people are like "Oh damn, that thing got turbo" and you're automaticlly fast or w/e.

You dont know how much trouble your gonna be in if you break something. If its NOT your daily driver, then, by all means...Boost it. If it is your Daily driver and you have work, school, and or a GirlFriend...Its gonna cause alot of problems.

Do you plan on upgrading the Pistons and etc.? Or are you just gonna bolt on a turbo to what you already have now? Again, this all goes back to how deep your pockets are.

Off the top of my head, I can say that you can get a complete H22 swap for about $2200ish. You're also gonna have to get specialty tools for certain parts of the swap. It is also time consuming. Other than that (After all the little glitches were fixed), I feel safe pushing the balls out of my H22 everyday. I wouldn't feel safe at all boosting the piss out of my F22 with 100,000 + miles on it Everyday.

Im speaking in terms of going from Auto to Manual too. I spent alot of Time and $ on this project. Not everyone is goin to run into the same problems I had. Someone did an H22 swap on this site in 13 hours as a matter of fact. It took me and my friends 4 sleepless day and nights working straight through and missing 3 days of work just to get my car to work. But it was all worth it

Thats what I have to say,

I live in the Burbs of chi-town where u need a car so I think im leaning more toward the h22 sounds like a smarter choice 2 where I live wat do u think?
