well i dont drive a stick..i do know how just dont own one and never owned one but i would think you can feel it...if not at some point you might smell it...if its old you might as well upgrade it to a preformance one

but im cheap as hell. if theres symptons like the car stalling a bit and stuff like that i wanna know

Cheap as hell is not the way to go if you want to properly maintain a car and not have to worry about it afterwards like a couple weeks later. As for a bad clutch you can smell if its burning out it almost smells like brakes but with a slighter stronger smell like almost cooked egg. Then you can feel it slip like it snot going anywhere if its enguaged if your running it hard and you dont feel it pull hard enough as it should before. Theres just so many variables.

most if not all the time when its really close to dying. youll know wen its completely dead cuz ull shift into a gear and give it gas, but youll go no where lol. happened to me and it sucks.

yea i would never go the cheap route on anything vehicle related..especially when it comes to pieces/parts that are important and have a high saftey issue. Now a clutch going out isnt so dangerous but it is going to happen sooner then later if you buy a cheap one because it is used like constantly when driving. And yea it should smell most of the time if its going bad...from what ive heard...umm..but if you dont have the money to do an upgrade go source a working one from a junkyard or buy an OEM replacement UNTILL you have the money to upgrade to something like ACT or whatever. Just my .02

Do you have any idea of how the car's been driven? If the previous driver does alot of powershifting, clutch kick, downshift without rev matching, doesnt put in N when stopping for a long time, etc. your clutch should be smooth as butter. So after driving, sniff around and you'll smell your clutch after being grinded into dust. You can either get an OEM clutch or performance. Know that performance clutches generally doesnt last as long as OEMs.

quick test. try to chirp hard in 2nd. if it wont do it, then you either suck at driving, or your clutch is on the way out like mine is. also. take off fast a few times. if its slipping, you'll notice it. the revs will either hang up there, and then drop down. or ythey might come down, but you wont accelerate.
