3rd Brake Light Problem

Hey i was reading around on the forum and people have cb7 had this problem and tracked it to a black and brown box located in the tails is it in the trunk lid or the tail part of the car? any picture of where the location of this box is? anyone?

it's in the tails. just look for corrision, moisture, or bad soder. later.

is that taillight from the rear quater panel or is it on the trunk lid? i know its on the passenger side.

they are on the outer lights

I disconnected mines since I don't like the third light. But none the less just check the connection, moisture might've built up.

Yes its the quarter panel light. I believe its a black box if you do not have a factory spoiler and a brown box if you do. They made a separate box for the spoiler equipped cars that disables the 3rd brake light in the rear deck.

Thanks everyone i will be fixing this problem when i get a chance. is there anyway i can just bypass the box so the 3rd brake light will not be lite up in the dash? of will i just have to replace it?

ok so let me get this straight...

ive got a 92 ex coupe with the stock spoiler. ive been trying to get my rear dash brake light to work, i put a sticker over it awhile ago and want it to light up when i hit the brakes.. do i need to bypass something? change somethin? i do electrical work on cars. ive tried changing the bulb already, 2 times actually. ive searched for a fuse every place i could think. ive yet to bust out my DMM tho, i was going to on thursday when i put in my clear corner lights and clear bumper lights.

i would appreciate any and all advice, the more technical the better. thanks

Couple things you might wanna look at:
Check the wiring harness fuse.
Check the led lights in the actual spoiler.
Replace the brake sensor if its bad.
Check the actual wiring harness for cuts or watever.

I've read a couple of posts such as this one and this one that mention the third brake light isn't supposed to go on if you have the OEM spoiler hooked up correctly. I have the OEM spoiler but my third brake light goes on. Did the third brake light used to turn on and you're trying to fix it? Or did it never turn on and you're trying to fix that?

im sorry, I forgot to mention that the third brake light(not on the spoiler) is disabled with factory equipped cb7's with spoilers. I thought u were referring to the actual brake light on the spoiler.

no im referring to the 3rd brake light on the rear dash of the car, between the speakers inside the car (just so theres no confusion). i just always thought it was the bulb and was lazy about replacing it for a long time. so i was bored one day and just went and bought replacement bulbs for the dome light and brake light. i have the factory spoiler, and i want the brake light on the rear dash to light up so i can light up a sticker i put there and so it lights up cuz i just dont like when things in my car dont work right. please give me a walkthrough on how i can change bypass the disabled light, i still want my spoiler to light up also. thanks for the help guys i really appreciate it.

ok i have a brown box on the driver side tail light, and a grey on the passenger side. its the brown one right?
