ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

No spark. ICM keeps burning out

So… for three months, or more, I’ve been trying to figure out why when my car is cold it starts right up and will run all day but as soon as I shut it off it will not start back up till I wait for it to cool off.

now it just got to the point where it doesn’t start at all. I have done quite a bit of work to her.

    NEW REMAN HEAD
    HEAD GASKET
    TIMING BELT N WATER PUMP
    ALTERNATOR 200 amp
    FUEL PUMP
    PRESSURE REGULATO
    FUEL RAIL
    FUEL FILTER
    LIKE THREE DIFFERENT DIZZYS

Not to mention suspension and other things that just needed to get done. I’ve had her 16 years now and I will keep her running. 297000 miles.

I went to the junk yard and got a complete harness for a manual and have been going almost every day to take parts off her being these are hard to find now and this one is a complete LX manual.

the only thing different on the harness is the auto trans connectors so I had to remove the connector from the old harness and repinn it to the new one.

my question is, are the color codes the same for the wires from a manual to auto? So if the green more with blue stripe the same on both? I hope so cause this took me a long ass time and it needs to work. Sorry about the ADHD on this question but I’ve been looking and I’ve seen no one try this with a stock harness.

It's the main relay most likely. Solder joints are bad and a common issue with our cars. Does your fuel pump turn on / have power?

(Wiring.... not sure. Would have to compare in a manual / book)

Yes. My fuel pump is on. I can hear the plumbing fill with fuel as it has a high flow pump so it’s loud. I can hear the fuel flowing. I already replaced the relay. Once with junkyard then next from Japan. Both do the same exact thing. I tried one of those five prong relay conversions but when I had it hooked up the car wouldn’t shut off even with the key out of the ignition. It kept spark and injector pulse on. Weird. When it starts it runs perfect unless you give it too much fuel. I replaced everything, “Parts cannon”, on the fuel system except for the tank which I cleaned out. I have two other CPUs I swapped out just to check and the same thing. All the CPUs are junkyard from an LX 92 or 93.

When it won't start do you have fuel and spark?
What is the condition of the plugs and wires? (What do the dugs look like? )
        Any check engine light?

Plugs n wires brand new. They are good. I pulled them the other day. I didn’t pull them when I cranked it to see if they get wet. No spark. Coil doesn’t fire anymore. The ICM, I believe, is burning out and not telling the coil to spark. I am changing the harness cause it needed some TLC anyway. I did the test light probe test on the coil when I crank it and the fuel is pumping but the coil isn’t getting the signal to fire.

The only CEL is for the EGR which I deleted and now an O2 sensor which I just ordered.

So… I finally completed the entire engine wire harness. I’ve upgraded the charging wire with true 4AWG wire from Home Depot. It’s pretty ridged wire so it’s good. I used a hydronic crimp tool on the ends so I know they’re solid. I’m going to upgrade the grounds coming from the battery to chassis and to the block. Power from battery to fuse box also upgraded to true 4AWG and 0AWG to starter and battery in trunk.
