ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    AC Delete

So my Compressor just went out and I will definitely be needing a new one. But before I buy a new one I was wondering what are the benefits of deleting the ac unit other than just more engine bay space ? It’s hot out here in cali so that’s why I want to keep my ac system but eventually I do plan on boosting. So will the ac get in the way if I plan to boost ? Can I still boost with the ac still intact ? Anything helps (:

Depends on what type of turbo manifold you choose to get, a/c may or may not be compatible.

Benefit of no a/c is some weight reduction and less stress on the crank.

There’s no real reason to get rid of the AC, but you’ll save space and weight if you do so. Many people, myself included, ended up ditching the old R12 system when it went (or in my case, when I did an engine swap) since an r124a conversion is expensive and often underwhelming.

I had my R12 converted and while it is not as good as it used to be it's definitley better than nothing. I live in Houston where having a car without AC basically makes it undrivable for at least 6 months out of the year so definitley a bit different than being in Cali where it probably wouldn't be too bad. I want to eventually do some sort of build with it (turbo, engine swap, ev swap) but my number one requirement is that it keeps the AC. From what i've seen on here so far its possible to do the DSM turbo build without deleting AC and the turbonetics kit allegedly can be installed with the AC in there but I haven't heard from anyone that actually has that kit. From what I can tell most engine swaps mean you gotta lose the AC but it seems like there are a few companies that make aftermarket AC kits for restomod cars so it would probably be possible with enough time and money.
