ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

electrical help, possible battery drain or alternator/wiring long description

Greetings! I Know this is long but I need help and I'm not a "car guy" per se.
I purchased my cb7 over a year ago from a guy who was selling it for his father it was garage kept after he stopped driving it and he would really only drive it to sunday's for church right now it sits at 195,000 miles.
Everything is bone stock only a couple of hoses have been replaced along with other components in the engine but nothing like a tuner or anything.
I'm looking for a shop or a service that does engine swaps, rebuild, and or rewiring and tuner etc in the north Texas area. I have a full record of the entire history of the vehicle from the previous owner and myself and we put a a lot into the vehicle and it runs well.
The problem I have ran into for the second time is that right when it got cold last time around this time of year I started to have a battery drain or an alternator drain I don't know if it's a parasitic drain or what but I had got the alternator replaced twice, and on the second time it was a better alternator and a brand new battery no issues after that
However this time of the year again the battery light came on and then the ABS light came on and then slowly the car died. (Over like 3 days)
My dad was driving it and the same thing that happened to him literally happened to me.
The only thing I can think of at this point is that it has something to do with the wiring my previous mechanic said he did an electrical test and it seemed fine. But I just don't know. Only thing I can think of that might have really messed up the vehicle is I had one of those little rectangular boxes or inverters that you put on the battery to give it a jump start and I might have done it incorrectly a couple of times.
I feel like that might have killed something with the electrical work in the vehicle.
The lights on the dashboard sometimes flicker but they never are dim that is until the alternator completely drained or the car died. And maybe like two or three times I could be driving on the freeway in the gauges with either be sitting still on the dash or they would be bouncing like crazy but it didn't affect the driving of the vehicle.
The only vehicle code that is running now is vehicle speed sensor code 17 and while checking the check engine light the D4 light also blinks but it's not like it's shifting terribly.
So anyways yeah I did previously purchase like a main relay sensor or something but I never put it on the vehicle because my mechanic had got the problem fixed so I don't know if maybe that's the issue as well but I'm just looking for a shop that can do a complete engine swap rebuild or rewire I'm willing to put the money towards it.
For me that seems like the best solution even though I wanted to keep it bone stock, but I would only be able to sell this vehicle for no more than $2,000 and I'd rather put the money in the vehicle overtime myself, opposed to have the vehicle go to waste, or have somebody else eventually do it and just swap and tune up etc. I have another car I'm already driving so it's not like a dire situation but I don't want it to sit for too long it's been sitting for 2 weeks now. Interior and exterior in great condition.

So don't engine swap to fix this issue. And if you are not a car guy just take it to a shop. A good mechanic will know how to troubleshoot this properly.
First you need to check all your grounds. The battery ground, the transmission ground, the thermostat ground and the fuse box ground. Physically take the bolts out and the wire off, inspect them both.

2nd check all the fuses. 3rd, check the voltage on the battery when the car is running. 4th... check for battery parasitic draw (more complicated). Best of luck. Lot's of help on here if you need it!
