Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Can't remove key after 5spd conversion.

    Can't remove key after 5spd conversion.

    Tried to keep title simple in hopes to find practical help.

    Anyway so did 5spd conversion last year but recently removed dash to fix up wiring under dash that id kick around when shifting... long story short I put everything back and plugged everything to my knowledge and car won't start nor release key (only release if I disconnect battery) I'm assuming car thinks it's not in park. The 2 pair of wires by the shifter are spliced correctly (grn/wht & black and two thick black wires). I threw the wheel on to make sure it wasn't locked and nothing. Is there anything else that controls that that I may have overlooked?

    Does the car physically go in to park? (does the dash light show it in park?)

      Not sure I don't have the cluster on. But it's 5spd now and neutral is bypassed

        So to my knowledge for a manual car there's no relationship between the key release and the transmission. In the auto version there's the shift lock which is what you are talking about. If your key is stuck it's because the ignition is messed up and the tumblers are broken inside. This too would also cause your ignition to not work. Not sure why the key only comes out with the battery off, guessing that's the power being applied to the ignition (just not sure the relationship). But all signs point to the ignition in the car.

          Yea thats what I was thinking but didn't want to just jump to conclusions and buy a new ignition. And the key releases if I disconnect battery or if I disconnect the grey plug that comes off the ignition and plugs in under the dash. Not sure what's that about. But I believe I have a spare ignition laying around with the key. Ill try that see how it goes.

            Found the issue. Manual said I needed continuity on the shifter wire and I didn't. Checked all my grounds and they were all in. So took the fuse box off and found a loose plug for the grounds and everything is working now.
