ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Just inherited a 1990 Accord. Noticed some things about it

First of all, hello, this is my first real post on this forum. As the title states, I recently inherited a 1990 Accord with automatic transmission. It was a single owner car with 139k miles and maintenance records from 1990. Timing belt was replaced at 90k. The car runs great, although there are a few things that caught my eye

    1. There is a small ATF leak on the front passenger side of the car
    2. At idle, the RPM is about 700. When I turn on the A/C or roll up/down the windows, the RPM momentarily drops to what looks like 400-500 RPM before returning to normal. The same thing happens when in park and I turn the steering wheel
    3. The car clunks into gear when going from P to R or P to D or R to D/D to R. Otherwise it shifts smoothly while driving

Any ideas what these issues could be or estimates on repair costs?

    Thanks in advance!

Well as part of the automatic transmission fluid leak are you sure it's automatic transmission fluid on that car the distributor seal leaks and will put oil over the transmission and drop from there. The drop in idle when using more electricity like the AC fan in AC fan clutch lights and stuff are normal the computer person has to sense that there is a voltage drop and then it will start asking for more power from the alternator. As for the gear clonking what worries me is your transmission fluid is probably not up to the proper level I would check that right away to make sure it is at the proper level that may solve your clunking problem. If you have some tension on the gears like you're parked on the Hill are you do not have a firm foot on the brake this can also lead to the clunking you want to make sure everything is held tight and there's no tension before you shift gears that's why people that live on Hills San Francisco said their emergency brake firmly before they put it into park.
