ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Dont listen to them buddy...Just swap a VW Beetle engine in there from like the early 70's. Air cooled is the way to go!

Nah man...Just kidding....For the most horses, go with an H22...It's a drop in swap...but it will cost u some money...if not, the F22B DOHC or the H23 DOHC will bolt on to your F22AX block.

There's no difference in performing the swap for an F/H...if you replace your stock motor with another one it will be no less difficult than swapping an H.

The F22B everyone is talking about is the JDM DOHC one that is like the same as H23 pretty much. The F22B1 is the VTEC one out of 94+ Accord EX.

Now hypothetically speaking, would it make sense for one to buy a full F22B, do the head swap and sell the remaining engine?

well, do lets do the math.

you already have your stock head and block.

you buy an f22b long block, which can cost anywhere from 700-900, at least thats what Ive seen them go for.

you swap the dohc head onto your block, you have the remaining engine. now, you can either choose to put the old head onto that block and sell it for like 400, or not put the head on it and sell for like 2-300.

you might as well just buy the head alone, if you can find it. if you look hard enough you can find everything you need for the swap for under $400. the head alone shouldnt be more than 200.

personally i think the h23 is sweet. but that g23 engine that The one guy made with the f23 vtec top end and the h23 bottom end is just plain sweet.

does anybody know if it is possible of how hard it would be to put a b18 in a 92 accord. i can get my hands on one of those cheaper than i can an h22 so which one would be better?

The search engine is the best engine.
Anyway, B18 will take custom mounts to fit in a cb, and it will make less power than an H.
Once hasport starts selling the mounts for the k24 engine, this will be the ideal swap.

There have been numerous post by various members covering this question. Why would you downgrade? Our cars are heavier, therefore we need more torque. A JDM f22B would be a good choice in my opinion. If you are not satisfied with the results, you can always boost it.

this topic was interestin question that i had in my mind. i dont know much about gsr but that they fast with 180hp. rumor has it that engine too powerful because of it's weight. that it's extremely light that even the piston and stuff inside the engine are made out of aluminum. that our h22a is aluminum but inside the engine are metal that it weight so much more ?? plus.. an h22a racing a gsr will lose big time by a gsr. so he was wondering bout puttin a gsr since the engine are so light. but i had the idea to say wuteva parts that are heavy in the engine replace em and we should take the gsr big time too dont ya think?

                            h22

i went with the h22 for my swap, i bought the motor with lsd and shipping all together for 2800 from hmotorsonline and i got catback exhaust, header and intake, and suspension for all under 4800. 4800 hundred isnt bad to have a mid 14s car. the suspension was tein there kinda expensive but way good.

Aluminum is metal. Lightening the internals doesn't do that much for power. I'm sure it helps, but it's not a race-breaker. Titanium is the way to go for lightweight and strong stuff.

A GSR against a similarly modified H22 powered CB7 would be a driver's race. The power to weight is about the same.

The B18 would be a waste of money in a CB7, even a B18C5. It has as much horsepower as the H22, but the torque is down near that of the F22A. The car will feel stock until about 6000 RPM. It also has a totally different shifting setup (rods instead of cables) and totally different mounting points. The cost to make a B18 work in a CB7 would be antronomical... even if you could do most of the fabrication yourself!

Also, to comment on the previous headswap ideas... headswaps shouldn't be considered for daily driven cars. Not many people have done them on the F/H series, and there isn't a solid reputation for reliability. It's a cool project, and bragging rights can be fun... but when something unexpected goes because you filled or tapped an oil passage incorrectly, you won't be happy.

And Yaw, why the hell would you get a perfectly good F22B DOHC and swap the head onto a tired old F22A block?
