ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

clunking sound in front suspension and highway vibrations

I have a '91 SE which has really been ploblematic since I have had it (only about 18 months). Anyway, the latest issue is some inconsistent vibrations at highway speeds. I've had the tires rebalanced and had a new CV joint installed on one side (it was clicking). The vibration is still there though and it comes and goes. Some days I don't notice it, others it is of high concern. I also notice that sometimes when I hit a bump a certain way there is a clunk under the front of the car, but I think my other Accords did this as well. I can also rock the steering back and forth and feel the same or a similar clunk. I felt the rubber on the ball-joints and didn't notice any tears (doesn't mean they werent there) and I tried feeling the steering arms (tie rods?) as well and didn't notice anything obviously wrong. Still something tells me my clunking noise is related to my vibrations.

I'm not sure if this is related, but my transmission's lock-up feature is failing as well. Could the vibration be transmission related?

Anyway, any troubleshooting tips and "how tos" would be appreciated. Thanks for all the past, present and future help.

check your tie rods because i had the same noise and i found one of my tie rod nut loose and that will cause your whole wheel assembly to rock back and forth

I also have the same problem. But I fiquer unless someone says its a major problem I'm not gonna worry about it. I'll wait to see if the problem goes away with some new lower suss. and new rims/tires.

I just got my car back from the shop...it was doing the same thing! $500 later its still not fixed, but its better. They replaced the right axle and the swaybar linkage...the clicking noise went away but the clunking is still there on the drivers side...I think the other axle is bad also...im going down to talk to garage after work today.

Yeah I had the clicking noise and at first they said I just needed a cv joint but I let it go too long and it ended up being the whole axel. My other cv joint/now axel are going as well and while I don't hear the clicking I hear noise like the thumps here and there and it supposedly from the other axel. So either your whole axel should have been replaced and/or the other one is going as well.

your better off just replacin both at the same time...i wish i did! and if i had the time i would do it myself. each axle is only 90 bucks! man those garages rip u off, but i just don't have the time to do it myself
