    Traction control bars?

WOOT 1st post evar on a board. Did much lurking around though. Nice site!

I ran into a guy at this shop in my home town selling what he called "traction control bars". I have a few questions, since I am new here and a little bit skeptical of these actually working. Anywho, I have seen plety of import cars around town, but I think this guys claims might be off just a bit. Let me explain, I have a 93 ex with a h22 swap. not the fastes, but can hold its own.
Anyway this guy was talking about his car to a group where we all cruise and they all acted like he was god or something, so I just listende to him talk about his car. He claimed to have made this traction system that works for our cars only by helping stabilty and cutting down on wheel hop. My question is this possible? I looked at what appeared to be solid bars on his car, but don't know if this is a scam or not. My friends say his car is fast, but his claims seem to be very unrealistic for a 4dr accord. Has anyone here ever heard of a reason or need of a traction bar? Thanks in advance.

I think 2point6 is developing a set on this site. Dunno if he released the final product. What was this persons name. And they do work. They help out on Wheel hop and such which slows you down.

Didn't ask his name, seem really down to earth though. My friends make him out to be a know it all, but seemd nice to me. I sort of doubt how fast his car is cause all you guys seem to make cars faster than they are.lol

How do they stop wheel hop? I have bad wheel hop at the track.

Nah, this guys says his accord runs 12s or something without turbo or nitrous. I doubt it, because hes got buttons on his steering wheel. anywho back to my question: the traction bars could hurt my handling friends say not to use them. Has anyone used them before? I want feedback pros and cons.
            Thanks

Haha yep looks like you met him in person. It was a two tone white/blue paint job on his car right. And yes it has hit the 12's. You can run traction bars as for it hurting handling I dont see how it could. It helps put the power you got to the ground. But i think traction bars are used more in drag racing rather than autocross but i could be wrong.

I dont remeber what his car looked like, seems to me like it was very riced out, I duhnno. Blue sounds right, but not white. I do know he had a blue valve cover and a black header that looked unusaully wierd, not like turbo though. He did say that handling was improved all around, but I still dont understand how it works. I know how RWD traction bars work, but this made very little sense on a FWD car?

When you launch your car hard you have traction issues in an fwd just like wheel hop which is the main thing the traction bar is there to get rid of. And FWD cars we have pretty bad wheel hop when launching from high RPM plus we cant catch traction easily. Personally im still trying to somewhat understand how it works. And yea did his motor have ITB. I dunno if he daily drives his car some people that know him might know but his car has a white body and blue top last time i saw it. I think hes running an RMF header now which has an option to be colored black.

It's really the same principal... here is the link: It is a sticky at the top of the Parts for Sale Forum
Wouldn't have missed it if you had searched... anyways, its hard to say becuase you dont really know what he had i his car. A Heavily-Mildly built H with a little gutting could easily do 12s...

Warning: The Following Is An Unabashed Thread Hijack

Nail- where do you find such sick spots to take pics? I love the pic you have right there. Makes it look like you might be shooting with an SLR and a filter of some type? Do you just drive around and notice places that would be good for shooting?

His name is Scott and his car HAS hit the 12's (and been featured in Honda Tuning Magazine). Traction bars do work in our cars, Civics and (I believe) Integras have had them available for years, but up until now, no one had made them for our cars. I would love to pick up a set, but money is too tight right now to shell out $400. As for his bars working in his car, I'm sure he has a prototype on his car and is testing it heavily.
