ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    orange spark from spark plugs

i thought it was supposed to be blue? i'm having all sorts of driveability issues i'll spare you of. but if my spark is orange this means a bad dizzy right, my wires and rotor/cap have are new. (also did this at night to be sure)

i also got shocked when removing the plug from the dizzy cap to put another tester wire on.. i thought it was supposed to be a pretty good shock but it didnt feel too bad.

Distributors don't make sparks, coils do.

Don't remove high tension wires when they are firing.

... Orange? That's... just not right.

A voltage high enough to cause electricity to arc through air will, in the process, drop energy into the air that is emitted as light in the blue band. Hence, sparks are blue.

A voltage posessing the potential to emit orange light would not be able to jump through air, so there would be no spark at all...

My guess is that you're missing the spark and something on the plug is igniting just after the spark fires or your spark plugs are emitting some sort of gas that sparks orange...

its more of a orangeish yellowish colour and it definately jumps through the air. and sometimes after i turn off the car it doesn't start the first couple times and then when it does start it fires right up like nothing happened. also starting to effect idle with idle bogging down, and i took out the spark plug and noticed when the idle bogged down the spark got less rapid and weaker... and then as soon as the idle stabilized itself the spark strenthened and started firing more rapidly. oh i also have dry sooty carbon deposits on the plugs which indicate a weak ignition i believe.

How can you see your spark plugs working?

Why dont you test it from the spark plug? Sounds like you just pulled the plugs off the distributor and looiked at it...
