I'm not sure what to do, but would the power difference and output be much better if I just got the whole h23 engine or would putting the h23 head on my f22a6 block have basically the same output potential???

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

H23head/f22a6 block or h23 whole swap?

What do you have access to? The H23 pistons have slightly less of a dish in them so compression would be higher with the whole swap as opposed to putting only the head on. That would be the only direct performance benefit. Also, if you do have access to an entire H23, what condition is it in? How many miles are on it? If your F is struggling then by all means throw the H23 in there. Be sure you grab the ECU and distributor though. But we need a little more info on your situation. My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Ya sorry I wasn't specific I dont have access right now I'm just trying to plan out what I'm gonna do though, and any advice is appreciated. But right now my motor has 240,000 miles on it, and it still runs fine so far. But I was thinking of rebuilding the or atleast updating the bottom end to get it back in new condition then do the head. But would a full swap possibly be the better way to go cause of so many miles?

I also have another question the h23 and the f22b dohc are the exact same from what I've heard but are their ecu's set differently, like is their a rev limiter on one and not the other? or are both ecus interchangable with either head? just trying to narrow this down guys

So then going with the H23 setup would be better than, because the usdm ecus are less limited. Hmm well I think I've made up my mind I'm going to go with an H23 engine swap rather than a hybrid, I think it would just be better off replacing the whole engine than keeping my 240,000 mile block haha. I have another question now, I have an automatic tranny, would the gains be any better if I forked out the extra money and effort to do the 5 speed swap? Or should I just stick with the h23 auto instead of converting it...I heard that with either prelude tranny, the 1/4 times will be very close wiether its auto or manual

Im in the same predicament as u buddie , i picked up an h23a1 w/a snapped crank CHEAP that i plan on rebuilding if the main journals aren't Fuk'd, but even then i got spare f22 lieing around not including the one i blew the rings in hitting the rev limited every day since i bought it and am still driving to this day at 240,000 k's. Which im gonna haveto rebuild anyways if i wanna throw the head on
either / or id rather have the reliability of a rebuilt usdm engine than sumtin from over shores u know nothing about, not bashing jdm or anything ive owned a jdm zc crx which i beat the shit outta b4 trading it for my cb4drs4morehores

Giving it 10/10ths helps weed out the weak parts, so screw them anyway, I ain't carrying around no damn pussy parts unless they can handle what I have to dish out, that's how I roll . This same mindset can be applied to vehicles too!

Hmm that sounds pretty good, I like the idea of that chipping service, I'll have to look into that. That sounds pretty good than, a full h23 usdm swap. What would be better for that motor though turbo or n/a??? And if turbo can the h23 AUTOMATIC tranny take that abuse? Thanks for all your comments guys

Well since he is already debating the h23 might as well its not a bad swap. I dunno what type of ECU would be compatible with that maybe a chipped p06? The stock would be the normal p14 but i dont think thats chippable. Midniterayne and another person has a boosted h23 so might wanna talk to them about it. But i would say boost the h23 if you get it lots a torque. JDM ECU's have a limiter in them that limits them from 115-120 basically a lil under 180kph. Chip it and it will bypass it. Chipping can be done at a local performance shop and such i dont trust ebay. I had a friend chip mine and he did it for 20 bucks i just had to provide him with the ECU and chip. MRX on here can help you out if your lookin to chip an ECU. He is prob one of the better people that know what hes doing when it comes to chipping an ECU.
