ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Please help with few Q's 91 Accord

    Hi,
1.I have a 91 accord EXR, the brake lamp light on the gauge that shows doors open etc., goes on when i touch the brake and won't go out after. I read in another post that it is usually wiring or actual light, heres the problem a mechanic told me that this light also senses the brake fluid pressure and the light on could mean there is a leak , is this true?

2.I also just reinstalled stock springs as previous person cut the springs, i was wondering what are the largest size tires that will fit and what people think would look best.

3.When i start from a stop there is a lag before car kicks in, mechanic told me either the aftermarket intake is plumbed wrong and is taking in hot air, or there is a vacuum leak. Anyone have any ideas?

4.Also i am in Canada, does anyone know any places to get reasonably price parts, I need a rear brake light and rims and tires.

Thank you for any help it is much appreciated. T

    1. Most likely its your bulb. If it was something brake related i would think the red brake light would come on but dunno if the 91 had sensors. So that im a bit clueless.

    2. Well you can fit up to 18s i think could prob go bigger but your car is gonna look like a monster truck with your stock ride height.

    3. What do you mean by lag? Throttle cable could be adjusted wrong, might need a basic tune up it just depends.

    4. Brake light any auto parts store should carry. Rims/Tires performance shops, tire shops they all carry this stuff just gotta look around or ebay whichever one.

I just got my 91, so I'm not sure that all of this applies, but on most cars that light can mean:
      - low brake fluid
      - faulty fluid-level sensor (in brake master cylinder)
      - faulty e-brake switch (at the base of the e-brake lever)
      - faulty wiring in any of the above-mentioned circuits
      - faulty light (though unlikely, as most bulbs just stop working)

Ya my light has been on for a week now but its my bulbs...i guess when i had my leak issue in the trunk the bulbs became faulty and i thought it was my left brake fail sensor(the brown square box screwed to the taillight assembly)but i swaped em out and it still happens so i need to replace my bulbs and then go from there...but like nail said hard to tell...sounds like could use a tune up. I wouldnt personally do anything bigger then 17's(Dont think they look good past that size) but im getting 15'' ITR's. And if you need replacement parts www.hondaautomotiveparts.com is the shizzile. as far as locally im not familiar with canada!

Well i dont know if the 90-91's have those sensors because i know the tail lights are totally different. They are called Stop lamp failure sensors.

All 90-93 Accords have the same brake sensors.

1)The brake light in the driver information display indicates a burned out bulb.

All other brake malfunction information is displayed via the Brake warning light (the idiot light up by the blinkers).

I had the center high mounted bulb on mine go bad over the course of 1.5 YEARS. The little brake light in the driver information display would come on intermittently, until the light finally burned out.

            2) As previously mentioned, there are many possible causes for the delay. You need to be more specific.

            3) Light bulbs and stuff can be purchased at any auto parts store. There are many places to buy wheels, including the tire places. If you check Ebay, Groupbuycenter, and the monthly mags, there are tons of wheel/tire packages available.

There's two separate brake lights on these cars? Good to know ... Thanks!

Probably for your #1 it might be the the spring and a switch located under the dashboard.. It might be the spring that won't return back to its normal place... So yeah its like where the top brake pedal is at and you might see a little white box with a metal piece stickin out with a spring, and once you apply the brake, it touches the switch and turns on and off the light...
But you might consider tapping to see if its that.

I just printed out this entire thread, and I'm taking it to my mechanic .. lol
I'm totally freaking out as to why this is happening to me also .. AccordAffair and I
did the coupe trunk swap on my sedan, however .. this issue was already happening
before we did it .. but, it would come and go before the swap, then after we did the swap,
it was a little more noticeable .. now .. it's every time, and as soon as I touch the brake, bam
it lights up .. Grrrr .. All my lights function and I've got ample fluid in my reservoir
and my brakes are fine .. I'm totally frustrated by this, and now I find out that
there's a *spring* with a switch .. under my my brake pedal?

                  Oh Fun !!!

i think it is the brake lights as for the brake light indicator and as for cheap places to buy stuff there is always ebay and that is probably the best place.
