    another damn idle problem!!!

alright guys i just did the a6 intake manifold swap onto my A1, i went great, i cleaned it all out, clean the whole egr system, new gaskets, the works,

so i start it up and my idle jumping eracticly, it did this only when it warms up, so i adjust my iac or the thing with cover and you twist down. nothing, i then adjust the throttle body idle screw and still nothing, i drain and fill my radiator and also bleed and still nothing, i exchanged the iac and the fast idle thermal valve, i think that is what its called, replaced both and still nothing, i also replaced my thermostat with a honda one, if that matters. this was done before the drain and fill.

i was thinking it could be that i connected the hoses wrong, i switch some around and nothing

i did search and tried the things suggested but it didn't help me at all

    any help is greatly appreciated!

    thanks

Hmmm my h22a did that except it was like 1500-800 but yea i adjusted the throttle cable since it was loose and it started to idle back down to 800-900 make sure dont overtighten it needs some slack or else the RPM will stick. Are you getting any CELs?

you might have gotten an air bubble in the coolant when you hooked all the lines back up. later.

              Intake air leak?

If I remember right, idles that go up and down repeatedly are because the engine is idling too high so the fuel injectors cut off so the idle drops down, then come back on. Of course the problem hasn't corrected so they rise until the ecu cuts off the fuel injectors again...and this cycle repeats over and over. Try replacing your idle valves or at least cleaning them out well and replacing the orings/gaskets for them. Be sure your intake manifold/plenum/TB have new, good gaskets and are torqued properly. Afterwards, be sure to adjust the idle screw.

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

I had the same problem. Turned out there was a hole in the flex pipe. Check underneath to see if you see any holes. You never know.

IF you have a hole in your exhaust and as long as its after the o2 sensor it shouldnt affect anything. If its before the o2 then yea it will affect something (you will run rich, excessively loud, sound like shit). Double check your hoses again for kinks just in case that sometimes might cause it.

man this really sucks, i unpuggled the iac and the idle went down to 1100, but then it threw a code, so i plugged it back in and it started again, i put another one in there, and was the same thing.

the car I got did the same thing after it ran for about 2 mins. It'd go from 1500, and drop to about 500 and kick back in again. I'm hoping my head swap will help this.

u mentioned that u swapped the FITV... but.. did u actually care to adjust it.. just replacing isnt always the solution... open up the FITV and adjust the yellowy/whitish circle looking somma bish clockwise... get it down as clockwise as possible without u breaking it.. do this while the car is on.. once its down (if this solves ur problem)... reset the ecu and see where it idles... since u mesed with the idle screw ur idle may be too low now.. and if this doesnt solve ur problem..

                              1.spray bottle filled with water
                              2.spray around intake manifold..
find the vac leak that u have..
