ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Shifting Trouble

    Yo,

I just picked up my 93 EXR recently and have a little trouble shifting.
It seems that the clutch doesn't disengage completely, resulting in a little bit of almost-negligible grinding here and there.

Tying into this, I can't seem to shift into first with any ease. If the car is stopped, for example, and I try to shift into first it doesn't go. If I rev up to 3k and then shift as it spins down, no problems. Same thing for reverse except that it's not a clean shift if I shift into reverse while the engine spins down; nasty nasty grinding noise.

I'm thinking it could be something wrong with the mesh system if not with the clutch itself. How would I go about checking the clutch/mesh system, etc.?

CHeck for fluid in the Clutch master cylinder. Might be running a lil low and prob leakin somewhere. Might wanna change your tranny fluid to see if that helps a lil.

That's a lot of miles man...

It really does sound like your syncros...

(Is your clutch pedal very mushy? meaning soft?)
            ...Check these for maintainence:

1)Master cylinder for fluid level in reservoir.
            2)Slave for leaks.
3)Clutch slave hose for leaks - it's rubber and Canadien weather isn't to friendly in the winter, thus can dry-rot the rubber clutch hose.
4)Manual transmission fluid---you may want to flush and get new fluid...

Inspect those 3 first. You may want to bleed your clutch, get all the possible air out. Search here, im sure there is a DIY.

Now, as for your shift linkages...
take apart the shifter console. Go buy some all purpose grease and grease the snot out of the shifter cables, all pivot joints and as well the shifter pins on top of the transmission.

If that didnt help out(bleeding clutch & greasing) then your syncros are to blame...

bytheway, how is your clutch? does it slip? grab well?
