ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

problem:shifts to neutral while in drive

so my friend drives a 93 accord lx(auto) and shes been buggin me about a problem shes having where she'd be driving and all of a sudden it would go into neutral (without touching the shifter)

i personaly havent experienced it happen, but i took a look at her car, didn really find anything wrong, but i suggest its the trany
ill add more details if i ever experience it

    does anyone have any ideas?

    more info:
    -it goes back into gear
-the dashboard doesnt change from the N or D it stays at D
-the main problem is that all of a suddent the gas pedal goes soft and end gets to the floor (like pushing the gas while in neutral)
    -the rpm goes up HIGH

also...the rpm is high (at 3) when put in park..maybe its linked to the problem

WHen it goes into neutral does it go back into gear or does it stay in neutral? Might want to check the shift linkage.

I have had a similar problem except that my car will not go back into gear until I stop, turn it off, sit for 10 secs, and start it back up. It works for a bit then does the same thing....thus, I am pulling the transmission right now to see what is going on...

i added more info about the problem in the original post

...she doesnt have to stop the car to get it back into gear, the rpm/speed jumps high then goes back to normal (at random times)

its an automatic...lock-up soleniod, torque converter? Can't say, only going by what I've read on the subject. No personal experiance.

I'd say shift linkage would be the likely problem if it was a manual tranny
