ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Oil leaking!?

I went up this hella rocky road to go to this party and and the process hit a few rocks. I now have a major oil leak and don't know where it is coming from. There is oil all over the place under my car and was wondering what the most likely place that a rock could of broke something. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
Girls are like yellow lights, do i go for it or do i stop?

Take it to a place where they change the oil in a pit, like a Jiffy Lube. They can clean it, let you take it for a five minute drive or just clean it up and let it run and see where it's leaking from!

Just jack up the car and look under it dont take long. Id say your oil pan is your culprit but easiest way is to get down there and check. Tranny housing could be cracked but they are decently strong.

Id have to go with SpdJnky93 on this one, but being a broke ass college student, Id say get a can of engine cleaner and clean the hell out of your engine yourslef, and then drive it for a bit and look to see where its coming from.

If its a "serious" leak, id agree that its most likely the oil pan, if its minor, the list is minmal.

good luck, and keep us posted,

          Tim

ouch! don't give the guy a heart attack quite yet!

but anyway, does all the oil leak out within a matter of minutes? the CB7s have a known problem with a balance shaft seal that works its way loose and pops out. Honda came out with a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin), and a bolt on seal retainer to retrofit onto the engine about 10 years back. This would be obvious if the leak is FLOWING, not dripping, and if it's coming from under the crank pulley. I think there's a 5-page thread on this oil seal problem if you do a quick search for "oil leak".

                good luck.

If you get under the car and see a dripping that would be great right well it would also help to not see oil everywhere so get a cheap degreaser from like auto zone and a stack of towels from walmart (10 for 3 bucks) and clean it up a bit to see where its coming from easier. It you really cant tell....ask a mechanic.

I got under there today and found out that there is a crack in my oil pan. What does one of those cost to replace and how hard is it to get off?

                    Thanks for all the help!

Speaking of oil pans, has anyone ever changed their own? From reading the shop manual it doesn't seem like it would take too long. Remove center beam and then the oil pan. I'm just asking because I just had the gasket replaced at the stealership. $25 for the gasket and 2 hours labor for a total of almost $250! I was going to change it myself, but the advisor (as if reading from a script) said it was leaking REALLY bad. Being the doofus that I am I said "Oh, okay then, go ahead and fix it"

Part number 5, click here. It's about $150 (list price) from your local stealership.

Or, go to the classifieds forum and post a "WTB F22A1/4/6 oil pan". You could probably pick one up for 50bux. For that matter, I have 2 lying in my garage.
