ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Mixing weights/brands of oil!?!

Ok so I was down a litre and a half Because I had a leak at the fitting I installed in my pan, this time! But I fixed it and only had 10w30 non-synthetic oil castrol still but not my 5w50 syntec! IS this really bad or will it last like 2000miles???

    WaC!

If you are running synthetics than yeah you can run a heavier weight by mixing them, although I wouldn't keep it in there for to long since you may start to notice drivability problems if it becomes a habit.
No longer working on the cb. To much time and money has been put into it. Check my for sale thread where the whole car will be parted out.

most likey the dino oil will seperate from the synthetic oil. i'd strongly recomend changing your oil. mixing wieghts isn't too big of a deal as long as they meet the specs.

Eh, it should be ok... they do sell synthetic blends, afterall! I have mixed weights in my motor right now. Still, changing it won't hurt. If you're not comfortable running what's in there, then get rid of it!

Mixing weights is not a problem
For cold weather climates, using a heavier weight will aid in morning starts.
For warm weather climates, ie. Florida, So.Cal...use a thinner oil.
Use whatever the manual says you should use, 5w-30.

Now, mixing synthetic and regular dino oil is not so good.
Synthetic oil has a lot of sediments, refined micro sediments that really do aid in motor wear. Generally speaking, Synthetic oil is very viscous compared to regular dino oil.

If you did mix the two, make sure you do a complete flush, or do a oil change right away.
