ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Rough Idle?????????

well first off hello. just tried searching throttle position sensor, TPS, and rough idle with no luck. so heres my first thread.

when the car is at idle the revs bounce up and down and up and down and up and down. roughly from 500rpms to 2300rpms. the power mods on my car are:
    AEM CAI
    UR pulley kit
    Monza catback

what can i do to remedy this?????????????????? hopefully there is a simple fix i myself might be able to perform instead of having to take it to the stealership.

    thanks.

        exhaust gas recirculation lift valve.
take your fuel rail and injectors and then the cover and clean the egr ports.

u people are going way to far into it for something that could be a small problem. check for leaks, everywhere. my car does that when any of my vacuum lines arent connected. also check ur pcv valve, it should be loose, not loose like it will fall out but not tight like it will hold up to a hurricane. also check to make sure there isnt any air coming out of ur throttle body/intake manifold gasket. also do u know if u have a radiator leak or any problem with it? sometimes the radiator being bad can throw things off like that.

yep. Id also check out the IAC and clean out the screen with carb cleaner.

I just recently had the same problem with my girlfriends integra. A few things you can check, take of the Idle Air Control valve (IACV) and use brake cleaner to clean out any dirt and debris in the little screen. Don't hesitate to use quite a bit. Then, with the engine running, unplug the connector the IACV and let the engine idle for a moment then plug it back in. This re-sets the IACV. Don't be alarmed if your check engine light comes on at this point.

If that doesn't fix the problem, you need to try adjusting your Fast Idle/Thermo valve (FITV) To do this locate the valve un the upper right hand side of the intake manfiold. It will have 2 coolant lines running to it. You will notice two tiny little screws that hold on a plate. Remove those screws (careful not to loose them) and you will see a white plastic plunger inside there. Take a flat head screwdriver and stick it in one of those little groves and rotate it clockwise until it can be turned no further. Install opposite the way you took it apart.

Always make sure you check that you have proper coolant levels. If these two things DON'T fix the problem, start looking for vacuum leaks. However 9 out of 10 times idle problems such as yours are related to both of these valves.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

i always thought the fast idle was on the right side of the intake manifold, not under the TB

For the F22A motors the FITV is on the Right of the intake manifold standing in front of the engine.

If your coolant level is low, that will cause your problem too...FYI

I disconnected the IACV plug like you said but the idle wasn't fixed. Same with after I plugged it back in.

Did you also clean the IACV? unplugging it does nothing more than re-set the sensor. Also, have you tackled the FITV yet?
