Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Rough Idle?????????

      i vote for IACV. My 90 accord has 275k miles on it, original drivetrain, and the egr has never been cleaned or serviced. That's not to say it might not need it, but when my car began having the same idle problem last year as the one you're describing, it turned out to be the IACV.

      I tried cleaning it 3 times with a combo of brake and carb cleaner with no success, then swapped it for a good used one and that fixed the problem.

        Well, later today I'm gonna look into the air boost thing and the idle screw because not only did I clean the original IACV, but I also pulled the IACV off my car's old engine in my basement and slapped it on the new engine (and cleaned it before installing it) but it still idles high, so I'ma look into the idle screw deal.

            this is my first post so be gentle

            i just bought a 93 accord EX coupe 5spd and im having the above mentioned problem with idling and high reving

            hopefully the solutions above will help

            lol the forum is great keep up the good work
            Well since i dont have a pic of my REAL CAR this will have to do

              I have been trying to fix my erratic idle problem for over a month now. I have tried swapping parts, cleaning this and that, bleeding, etc. etc. etc.......good luck to you!

                I spent a week checking everything out on my car when it was surging like that...turned out to be the first thing I should have checked...my idle screw was backed too far out, just a simple turn of a screwdriver and my idle was fine, no problems since...good luck.

                  i adjusted the idle screw on the throttle body in and it help a little but it still has that idle bounce
                  Well since i dont have a pic of my REAL CAR this will have to do

                    now i have another problem on top of the idling now sometimes when i been driving and i stop and shut off the car i'll get in and it wont start it cranks over but wont fire

                    what could it be?

                      check the main relay

                      on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,

                        Search for that there are quite a few topics on the Main Relay Drizzt.

                        Also, accordaffair, on the pic of the plenum you posted, what are the 3 vac connections across the top? On my a9 I have the middle one capped and I don't know what its for, i'm pretty sure it's the same as an a6 though? Sorry to thread jack too.

                          1)-could be ignition coil
                          2)-could be main relay
                          3)-any cels when it sputters or dies?

                          for aaron and other rough idle issues

                          1)-do as accordaffair says
                          2)- for those who have a CAI or short ram intake--did you guys plug or put a peice a foam with zip-tie over air boost valve like you supposed to, and did you block off the the line that used to connect to the stock intake box.

                            What is happening is it wont start but if he gives it say 5mins it starts right up, and yes there is a CEL and we checked it. It came up 14 which was the IACV
                            It doesn't matter. Use whatever technique you like.
                            However, Once I've said I'll kill you, your death is assured.

                                #14 is the air boost valve on USDM H22A1, H23 too, I think. I have a stock block off plate here on my H22A manifold. Does anyone know if not having this is a problem for a car with a USDM ECU. Should I steal it from my H23 manifold? I know most of you guys have the JDM motor, what's the deal with this?
