ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Headers, No Power?

I was told by one of my co-workers at my job(Honda) that there really sin't any need to put headers into the H22 motors because they only add like one horsepower. anybody have any experiences with headers and if this is really true or not. I want to get all those simple bolt-ons but am wondering if I should skip out on the headers or not.

my understanding is that the stock honda headers are just as good if not better than aftermarket ones. They are a 4-2-1 setup anyways so spend the money on something useful, Like some of the parts I am selling on eBay
No longer working on the cb. To much time and money has been put into it. Check my for sale thread where the whole car will be parted out.

You will make more then one horsepower with a decent set of headers, but remember most bolt ons change the power band. So if you were to put on headers you would loose low end, and probably gain anywhere from 4-9 hourse power top end. This may sound like nothing, but 9 horse power is 14% more then you were making. It all adds up in the end.

Most definetly. I can apprecitate an extra nine horsepower from a pair of headers. That would be more than enough. But I also heard what DjSpeedy was talking about too. Thats what the mechanic was telling me about the headers that come stock on these motors from the factory and thats why you'll only really see like a gain of one horsepower from this mod. Well since your saying I could gain 4-9 horsepower from a decent pair of headers, which headers would give me this kind of power CBL?

i noticed a gain in power when i spray painted my headers with 1200 degree paint.... because the paint contains ceramic..and keeps heat retained in the header...and moves the heat out to the exhaust faster...

What do you mean by you "noticed a gain in power". Did you feel it or saw it on a dyno? Thats somethign worth giving a shot at too.

Kamikaze are nice headers and will give you more than what they say in gains. They are many more, custom and of the shelf headers that are very nice. Mabe i will search for a few more a little later.

And yes i do agree there are better mods for the f22a engines, and yes the accords exs came with a great set of headers from the factory. and yes i am a mechanic and let me tell you, mechanics know cars but they dont know horsepower. I am one of those rarer breeds

LOL, yea I know exactly what your talking about, thier are some knuckle head working at the Honda dealership I work at, others give a rat's ass about the whole scene. there were a couple in thier though that were pushing some serious power otu of thier cars. But back to the topic, I was talking about the H22A not F22A. F22's probably do react better to header mods, but how bout the H22?

i know this is the noob forum, but for gods sake we only have ONE header.

with that out of the way...any aftermarket header thats in your price range will probably not gain you any power, and if you think your feeling more power, you have just experienced a well known psycological phenominon called the "Plecebo Effect". Dyno test have shown the the DC sports header for example, actually caused a loss in power

so unless you have $600-$1000 to spend on a real performance N/A header...dont waste your money

Eric (Accord R33) is right... the JDM H22 header is very good. Anything that costs less than $500 probably won't yeild any gains to justify the cost.

Headers made by SMSP (www.smsproducts.com), Hytech (www.hytechexhaust.com), and the lowest priced of the decent ones, the Rage header sold by www.kteller.com. Those yeild decent gains, but they aren't cheap. Still, I'd rather spend $1200 on 18whp than $300 on 2whp! hp/$ is much better with the higher priced pieces!

DC Sports has just released a header that has a 2.5" collector (used to be 2.25" I believe) and that is supposedly quite good... I haven't seen any proof yet though. I've seen these go on ebay for less than $300.

Oh yeah, forgot about them. They're up there as well, I believe... I've heard SMSP comparisons...

SMSP is still my choice. I'm hoping to get one in the near future.

I'm lovin the kteller website. those rage headers look alittle more like a turbo manifold than an exhaust manifold. I'm gonna order my catback piping from them. Two quick questions though, for the exhaust, when ordering should I look at the prelude or the accord? (since its custom bent to fit the CB7 but i have the H22) I'm pretty sure about this one but I just wanna make sure, when ordering headers, I look at prelude right?
