ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Very true... the V6 or Type S muffler would be a bit of an upgrade, and still be quiet.

When buying a used muffler, just check for visible rust, major dents or scratches, and loose internal stuff. It shouldn't rattle when you shake it! If possible, find someone with the muffler still on their car.

If you want to spend a little more money, that's a very good way to go. www.kteller.com sells some pre-made mandrel bent piping for our cars as well. That, coupled with a good muffler, would make a nice combination for a bit less than a full system.

If the current piping isn't rusted too much should I not worry about it, or should I just replace it anyways since it's 14 years old and it's been in a mainly dry climate (Texas).

Well, if you're buying an entire exhaust system from somebody, they yeah... don't buy it if it's rusted. If it's not rusted, then you're good. If you just get a muffler (just the big chunk on the back, and about a foot or two of piping... not the whole system) then you'll want to get a muffler shop to weld up some new stuff.

OR go the performance muffler and kteller.com route... their systems should bolt right up to your catalytic converter, and an "axleback" muffler (just that... basically from the axles back...) should bolt on.

Thats a really good idea top get some custom piping from a muffler shop and just get the muffler of your choice. But my question is will that piping still have the same quality as a full exhaust?

Muffler shop piping is crush bent, which means that the bends aren't the same diameter as the straight parts... so no. I have crush bent piping on my car, and it's not bad. Mandrel bent piping (which IS the same throughout) is better overall though. Real systems have mandrel bent piping, as do the muffler-less setups you can get from kteller.com

Wow, that a really good website you found thier Dev. so basically these kits are the same that come with the full exhaust systems. Thats not bad at all, I'm pretty sure the diameter of the exhaust systems is the same as these(2.25)right? Thanks for the advice, I could use that extra $200 dollars I'm saving to buy headers or some pulleys.

Custom piping with an OEM muffler from another car is the way to go.

Sorry for bringing back an "old" thread, but should I go with 2.25" diameter piping for the custom piping or 2.5"?

For intake, i suggest getting injen or aem. Or just get an aftermarket pipe and stick a K&N filter on. For exhaust, I recommend the A'PEXi WS2 or the GReddy SP2 or EVO2. If u got $550 to spend, get the RS-R ExMag.
