Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

New Catback Exhaust, slightly hitting Heat Shield..

I did a bit of research throughout the site but, I could not get a 100% answer. My question is, is it okay if I remove a section of the undercarriage heat shield where my exhaust is vibrating against? It seems to be somewhere around the "S" Bend, or towards the rear of the car where the exhaust is vibrating against heat shield.

I installed a new Catback Exhaust from Yonaka. Lol don't make fun of me for purchasing a Yonaka Product but, honestly I think the setup sounds great. (I had a cheap ass fart can originally, because that's what the owner before me installed.) Only problem is the piping is pretty close to the body. I guess because of the hanger length.

If I remove the heat shield will it be too hot and start to melt/burn anything? Obviously the heat shield is there for a reason but, I just can't stand listening to the vibration.

    Just need some clarification! Thanks.

I thought about using some Heat Wrap just around the areas where there is vibration between the exhaust and heat shield?

Bend the heat shield. The shield is there to keep cabin temperatures down. If you use heat wrap, the rubbing will chew through it over time. Just hit that shield with a hammer, or take it off and deal with the extra heat.

      I say hammer.

Lol thanks man. Yeah I already tried to bend it with the exhaust on it but, didn't seem like it did much. Maybe I can take the exhaust off and then try to bend it out of the way.
My main issue is that the piping is too too close up towards the heat shield, as if the hangers are a little too short to give enough room between.

That's what you get with inconsistent products like Yonaka's crap. Those cheap knockoff companies often have fitment issues.

Anyway, yes... bend the heat shield, and if necessary, bend the hangers. I've known people to remove the heat shield as well. I'm not sure what that will do to the things that were previously protected by it... but I know it has been done.

Yeah, it was a gamble for sure but not too bad for the price I paid. Better than the fart can I previously had! This Yonaka Cat actually has a decent sound to it. Almost sounds like my buddy's stock 2015 Honda Civic exhaust.

But, anyway I went back and found that it was not the hangers problem. Seems I diagnosed the issue incorrectly & the piping was actually vibrating against the heat shield right next to the trailing arm. Took the advice about bending it back, as well as a little bit of trimming to the heat shield, & now my problem has been fixed. No rattling, no loud vibrations.

Thanks for the great advice once again guys!!

I have the Yonaka Catback also. It's a good bang for buck exhaust. I don't know about HP increase, but the sound is great for what its worth.

Did you have any fitment issues?

That's the thing with inconsistent products... some fit better than others.

Very old thread but, I was lazy when I installed my Yonaka Exhaust because I reused the old Exhaust Hangers which was causing the exhaust to vibrate against the upper heat shield.

I purchased some Polyurethane Hangers which had 3 holes to choose your exhaust height. I think they were $9.00 a piece? (Well worth it)

I used the second hole which helped keep the exhaust a little farther from the chassis & cured my annoying exhaust vibration. Now I really like the way this exhaust sounds from inside the car. Not bad!
