ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

My car is overheating. Tried a few things but nothing is working

I just bought a 93 accord ex this morning and its temp gauge is already saying it's running hot. I parked my car at home and took my moms to get a jug of 50/50 pre diluted coolant when I noticed it. Came back home waited a little longer for my car to cool off and I filled the resovoir up. Then I took it out around my neighbor hood and it was all good so I decided to hop on the street but before I made it out the neighborhood the hand started rising again so I turned around and took it back home. Let it cool off again then poured the rest of the coolant in the resovoir. The coolant in the upper radiator hose was boiling as well idk if that helps but that's what I know. Right now I'm waiting til it cools all the way down so I can take the hose off to see if I can test the thermostat. I don't see an visible leaks so idk where the hell my coolant is going so fast. If someone could help out that'd be great. Thanks

If you were actually filling the overflow reservoir, it wasn't doing you any good. The radiator (when cool) should be filled essentially to the top.

How do you know that the coolant in the upper hose was "boiling"? If you're going to take the thermostat out, might as well put a new one in while you're at it. I suggest getting one from Honda.

Check your oil to make it is not a milky brown, which would indicate that coolant is getting into it (likely head gasket leak). Same thing with the coolant, if it looks like it has oil in it; likely head gasket again. If there are a lot of bubbles continuously going into the overflow tank; that can also indicate a head gasket leak from the combustion chamber(s) to the coolant passages.

If it was boiling, it may also have been mostly water.

The "boiling" could very well be a head gasket as bubbles in radiator is a sign
sold! But here's my build thread for those interested.

Pure water boils at 212 F, so in normal driving it still shouldn't boil (stock thermostat is 180 F).

At normal coolant pressure with a good radiator cap (approx. 1 atm, or 15 psig) the boiling point is about 250 F.

Make sure the radiator is filled to the top but it sounds like you may have a head gasket leak.
