ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    hood prop

Searched and didnt see an answer to my question.

My hood prop rod is about the most chintzy thing i've ever seen. It twists around trying to put it into the hood hole, and you gotta work it over to get it lined up with the keeper on the rad support. there's no bushing at the base to keep the thing from going ape. Is there any hack i can do to it to reel it back in?
I don't jerry-rig, i make custom parts with alternative materials.

No. My 2000 accord does the same thing since it lost its bushing at the base of it. Quite annoying. I'd hit a junk yard and find that bushing for the bottom which keeps it from twisting all weird.

You can buy a brand new one at the Honda dealer for under $5. I've replaced them in all 3 of my CB's so far. You can also pickup the prop holder by the battery for just a few dollars as well. No point to go hunting at the junkyard for 20+ year old plastic. Unless it's a damn clip that is discontinued. Ask me how I know... I've tried to order so many misc clips.

Another option is to install some hydraulic props. A few people have done so successfully.
Here's a link to a DIY thread. Unfortunately, the OP's images seem to be gone... but you should get the idea.

Ok. Yeah I was referring to the piece at the "hinge" side of the hood prop, where if you dont have it set right, the doggone thing falls thru the hole. The keeper piece is still in good shape. We've got a couple CB's at the PnP I'm gonna hit up probably next weekend and scavenge

I had the same problem when I was fixing my door, I used hondapartsnow.com to find as many parts as I could and the salvage yards for the rest.

Part number 91604-SD2-013 You can get a new one for probably less than the entry fee for PnP. Personally I would rather have a new one than 20 year old plastic that has been sitting out in the weather...
