ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    clutch question

I am about to replace the clutch in my 91 lx. I saw on here that exedy seems to be the way to go. I have found one on rock auto for a good price. However, I am leaving for Texas in about a week and with shipping it would make my timeline very short. I called my local advance auto and they have a perfection clutch in stock for roughly the same price. Does anyone know if they are as good as exedy? It's made by zoom. I don't want to have to replace after 30xxx miles. Would I be better off just ordering the exedy and just have to put it in last minute? Thanks in advance

    Just get exedy or valeo.

Exedy is your best bet. OEM quality is the way to go (and Exedy/Daikin is the OEM manufacturer)

However, if you're really in a pinch, the Perfection clutch would probably be just fine for normal use. If you're not racing, or pushing more than stock power, it'll probably hold up a good long while.

I would STRONGLY recommend buying an OEM throwout bearing directly from Honda, however. Especially if you get the Perfection, you'll want a quality bearing. Cheapie aftermarket bearings can fail, and when that happens, the clutch is usually toast (I learned that lesson the hard way!)
If you're not replacing your flywheel, you're going to need to get the stock one resurfaced. Replacing is a better option, though.

Also, be prepared to replace an axle or two, as well as any ball joints or bushings that you damage or discover to be damaged in the process. It's not uncommon to damage an axle or lower ball joint when doing a clutch job.

Valeo is an OEM for many companies. As Deev said, be prepared for axle replacement. Get output shaft seals for both sides, and some synchromesh.

I just meant OEM Honda. Valeo is good, and I'd trust them... but if Exedy/Daikin is an option, that's the way I'd go. Especially since the throwout bearing that comes with those kits is usually decent (though apparently not the same as the part you get from a Honda parts counter...) I can't vouch for Valeo's bearing.

Thanks guys... I'm probably going to hold out until I can get the exedy... I just went and picked up an f20b last night... Got it for a deal... Balance shafts removed... Manual tensioner... And it's the manual version so since I'll be swapping soon I'm gonna hold out until the last possible minute so I can make sure it's done right
