ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Taking my 93 EX to Road Atlanta this Friday. Have I missed anything?

I just put fresh synthetic 5w-30 in, flushed brake lines with fresh Valvoline DOT 4, new Stoptech ceramics on the front, new brake hoses. Clutch hydraulics and disc have been replaced in the past few thousand miles. Getting Dunlop Direzzas put on some stock wheels now.

Here are my questions before I go out there:

1 - The brake master cylinder is original but no signs of failure, should I swap it out?
    2 - Should I use a heavier motor oil and/or a zinc additive?
    3 - Any other suggestions?

Thanks all...car has 183,000 miles on it.

I'd trust a working factory original brake master cylinder over some aftermarket or remanufactured part.

And 5W-30 is the specified oil from the factory. Are you leaking or burning a significant amount to cause you to reconsider this?

Honestly, you're doing more than most other owners of these cars do. When I bought the Accord I have now, I flew up to Seattle to get it. In lieu of bringing a lot of clothes or travel items with me, I packed a suit case full of spare parts like gaskets, filters, O2 sensors and tune up items. I even brought as many tools along as I could while staying under the weight limit. So maybe you could do something like that for your trip. Buy maintenance items you may eventually need and just keep them in the car until you do.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

It doesn't burn or leak a significant amount of oil. All of the engine seals have been replaced although it does still weep a little bit. Supposedly there's a puff of blue smoke under full throttle / high RPM but not enough to notice on the dipstick, even after a few thousand miles.

Chances are it'll be fine. Fresh fluids, new brakes, good tires... that's really all you need.

Inspect all ball joints and wheel bearings, and replace any that are questionable. If anything has a torn boot (ball joints, axles, etc...) replace that entire component. OEM is ALWAYS better than aftermarket.

Other than that, you should be good.

I think you'll be fine. With those Direzzas you'll be amazed at the grip, and if your suspension is stock, you'll be amazed at the body roll too. With street brake pads if you are out there driving hard you'll burnup those pads in a few hours.

I'm not sure what sort of event you are doing, but in our first Lemons race in our 1991dx we went through about 4 sets of pads in about 11 hours of on track time because we were dumb and didn't buy race pads. In our second race we got Porterfield 4E pads and they were brilliant, but now we need new rotors. Next time I think we will try the Porterfield 4S pads, they might not be as hard on the rotors, and as we all know changing the rotors on these cars is a bit of a pain.
