ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Brake Line Leak

    Hey Guys,

I have a pretty bad leak here....
What part is this? Is this hard to fix? Can I fix it myself?

    Thanks!

That is the front break hose. The metal bracket thing comes with the new part.

Is isn't hard to change if you don't live in the rust belt, cuz if you do, chances are you'll be changing the hard metal line it attaches to.

The job includes bleeding the brakes. If your not familiar or have someone qualified show you how to do it properly, I suggest you take it to a mechanic. You don't want to mess around with brakes going out on you.

Right... I'd like to keep my brakes functional

Any idea on how much this would cost to have a mechanic fix it?

This video makes it look pretty easy, I need to bleed my brakes anyways.

As I said in your other thread, we cannot accurately assess your abilities, therefore, nobody can tell you "how hard" something is. None of us are professional mechanics in your area, therefore we can't tell you how expensive it would be to have fixed professionally.

If it seems to be too difficult for you to attempt, call a shop. Explain the problem, and they should be able to give you an estimate. If you are not 100% comfortable with doing your brakes yourself, don't do it. Anything that you need to maintain control of your vehicle is something you shouldn't be working on unless you are absolutely sure you can do it correctly.

I've done brake work on my CB7, and I didn't find it to be incredibly difficult. I'm not satisfied with my bleeding job, however, so I'll likely be towing it to a shop to have that done correctly. I have other cars to drive, so I could afford the downtime to attempt it myself on the project car.
My Cadillac, which is currently my primary car, recently popped a rear brake line. I had that towed to a shop to be fixed. The shop fabricated a new hardline for me for $100.

theyre all probably on their last leg anyway if one is going, my OCD would throw a shit fit too knowing one corner had new rubber lines and the rest were tired 20+ yo lines. Itd be a good time to flush the system too, once you bleed it the pedal will feel so much nicer too with ss lines.

its really easy even for a beginner, just take your time if youre doing it, sometimes the nuts on the chassis hardline are pretty rusted, but you can rotate the new flex lines instead of the nut..if you dont feel like messing with it or dont have a good tool selection it shouldnt cost that much to have your mechanic install them since its straightforward

no problem bud, depending on your year its a little different, but the cars use a cross circuit system, so you start at driver rear, then passenger front, then passenger rear, driver front. since you have drums at least you dont have to worry about the abs reservoir
