So I got everything together on my build and I believe I am still one tooth off on the timing it is making a squeeky whistling noise as it runs and is sluggish thr same exact noise it made when it jumped timing on the freeway right before my cam broke in half so here is the question I am faced with. One tooth offin either direction, but which direction should I go cw or ccw I figure if he motor spins ccw then in order to "jump" then it must be retarded by a tooth? Correct ? So if I advance it a tooth then I woukd be spot on? However I need to know which dire tion it spins to begin with to determine which way to rotate 1 tooth. It hasnt ran in a while and im a little foggy. Any help much appreciated thank you.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Well I swapped hesdgasket and had it perfect. Ran greak going down the freeway I felt a hickup maybe 30 min after I had it running I was acceling when it hickuped . Immediately after the hickup I start hearing this whinning almost like a vacum whine or something of the sort like I said in the first post. Maybe comparable to a belt whine or pressure leak... really faint. Pulled over to see wtf and thought maybe a plastic piece or something rubbing I didnt know got back in and pulled out and noticed a complete loss of torque got on onramp and freeway not even 3 min down the road all shut off and come to find out after poking around the cam was broke after cyl 1. Now when I just put this new head on I used a socked ext to find tdc then i lined up the cam as best i could i though nd it started right up, I thought it sounded a littke wird and maybe id be off so I went left a tooth and it seemed to run rougher . Took it off and went right teo teeth and it wont start at all now just sputtering so now im thinking just go back left one more tooth to where I began and try it? If I attempted to drive it down the road and it were off a tooth either would could it potentially damage it bad like another broken cam or would it just run shitty?
Ps imo the car jumped timing when it hickuped the first time and the stress of the jump broke the cam... not sure if that sounds reasonable or not.

Did you check for bent valves? I'm thinking that off a tooth would be almost significant enough to make the valves impact the pistons at TDC. Even the slightest bend and they wont close and seal all the way anymore and that will definitely cause some issues.
Check the distributor, flywheel, and cam gear after putting cylinder 1 at TDC. If it all lines up as per manual then you shouldn't be off a tooth. When I did mine I took the valve cover off and used two magnetic straight edges to check the two side marks in the cam gear. Because the engine is tilted a bit the arrow on the top wont be pointing straight up, 90 degrees to the floor, rather it will be 90 degrees to the head.Bought from: Night Wolf, bassrock234, sonikaccord, 904drACCORDMANG
