ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Pulley Issue???

Hey there fellas (and lady fellas)
I recently bought a CB7, great shape, runs great. Downshifted the other night to pass someone and flapping noise, battery light, loss of power steering, ect.
I get out and look and I see this:

I also uploaded a video of a short description and the issue itself.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPduQTNbq1w

I'm assuming I just need a new pulley? Any advice would be appreciated

I'm at work so I watched the video without any volume. Admittedly, I didn't listen to anything you might have said. However, it looks like the rubber component in the pulley has separated the ring sheared off. It doesn't affect the timing of your engine so the only things driven by that pulley are your power steering pump, alternator and A/C compressor. Replace the pulley and you should be fine.

And for the love of all that's holy, degrease and powerwash that engine bay!
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

X2 on the engine bay cleaning. No telling what type of damage was done to the belts in the process. Be safe and install new belts while you're at it.

Yes. You need a new crankshaft pulley. It should come with a new keyway too. Also, check the threads in the crankshaft to make sure you didn't strip it and replace the belt too. Might as well replace both belts since you will be in there.

Yeah I'm realizing now the larger ring is probably resting on the smaller ring, which is why the power steering belt is destroyed. Thanks for the advice, and is there a tutorial on how to safely powerwash it? I've always heard not to do that...

When I wash mine, I just put a plastic bag over the coil and alternator. Use some engine degreaser or degreaser/cleaner (this stuff leaves residue if you leave it) and wash it off. Just use a brush on the annoying stuff, and make sure you clean the grounds well.
