ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    A couple of electrical questions

I just got a 92 LX and I am trying to figure out why the rear drivers door won't lock when you push down the lock button on the door in the drivers door nor with the key. It makes a whirling noise then nothing. I know that the previous owner had an alarm that he had bypassed and when I pull the door panel there a aftermarket lock actuator rigged into the system and the harness that went to the door latch is now used to power/activate the actuator. I am I wrong to think that the actuator is unnecessary? shouldn't the factory lacth do the same thing?

I've also noticed that when I push the brake pedal that the outer brake light on the drivers side works fine but, the light on the trunk lights on the pass side What would cause this?

Last but not least, before the radio was stolen the head unit had power but wouldn't produce sound unless you turned the lights on, it would continue to play if you turned the lights of but would stop as soon as I turned the ignition off. I'm guessing that some untrained person put the alarm in and screwed something up!

Let me know what you guys think or any suggestions.

I suspect the original left rear door lock actuator failed and someone tried to rig up an aftermarket lock motor. I would suggest trying to find a functioning one at a salvage yard.

When you step on the brake pedal, five lights should go on: both outer lights, both lights on the trunk lid, and the center light in the rear window. If some of these don't work; first thing to do is check the bulbs.

OEM or aftermarket radio? Has the car side of the wiring harness been modified?

I suspected that the OEM latch should do the job by itself. I already got another one, I just have go and find the harness plug that was cut off during the hack job.

I hadn't thought about the bulbs, just figured that someone had screwed with the wiring.

The radio was aftermarket, all I got now is a bunch of wires hanging out of the spot where the radio used to be.

      Thanks for the tips!!

Ok, used lock actuators from the pick and pull did the trick!

I got 4 of the 5 brake lights working. The passenger brake light still doesn't work. I see that there is a cut orange wire in the harness. I will try another harness from the boneyard.

I'll worry about the radio when I get another one. The wiring looks like a nightmare!!

        Thanks for the replies!!!

Cut the radio harness from a car at the yard, this should make it easier to match up the wires by color. Then solder and shrink wrap.
