ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    battery light

What's up guys? So a few months ago I bought a 91 wagon, it came with some projector headlights, the other morning one of the low beams was out so turned on the high beams, as soon as I did that the battery light turned on and a few days later the battery died. Today I put on the factory headlights, checked the fuses in the engine bay and charged the battery, turned the car on and the battery light is still on, did I miss something?

First make sure that the battery terminals are clean and the connections are snug. If so...

You should check that the battery is receiving a charge. The battery light comes on when the voltage of the battery is below i particular unit. It may be that your alternator is not supplying an adequate charge.

Yea my alternator is bad, could this be why my radiator fan doesn't come on?

If the car did start up with the battery okay at the time it is possible that the alternator might not be maintaining a charge. You're probably going to need to slow charge that battery back up if its completely dead.

Not exactly, that could just be an issue with the fan itself or your water temp sensor. The big point here is to get that alternator replaced...i strongly advise you do not drive the car with a bad alternator. If tht battery goes dead you could damage the cells and that would be more money out of your pocket. The fan should come on regardless of the battery charge, probably would not spin as fast though.

If you are having fan issues check the connector for the fan is still intact, also verify the water inlet temp sensor is connected. Check the fan itself, spin it a little, see if it grinds or makes any noise...tht could indicate a defective fan. If all this stuff is squared, check the fuse box, observe the fan relay, take it down to you local auto parts store to verify it works if you do not have a multi-meter.
If you can get the codes from the ECU then you might be able to skip all of this, because it will tell you what is non operational on most occasions.

I second the Don't drive your car with a bad alternator part. Prior owner drove my car with the main ground not connected to the battery so what little grounds where attached where trying to pull all the power. One almost started a fire, and it killed the battery because it wasn't getting a full charge.
