ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    f22b dohc hesitation/misfire start up.

Hello all. Been awhile since i was on here anyway. I have a 90 lx with f22b swap and as of i wanna say 2 or so months ago my car sometimes will start but misfire for anywhere 5seconds to 30 seconds and then run perfectly fine. Ive had no issues with this motor and when i got it i replaced hg, wp, tb, etc. The usual. Its a fun motor but im worried its burning coolant or something.

Already has been compression tested and its good. Im wandering if its possible for the coolant to seep between the thermal gasket i have and into the cylinder while its sitting after running?

Are you going through coolant? If so the head is either warped/cracked or it wasn't quite torqued down right. Sounds like coolant is leaking into one or more combustion chambers. Probably not a lot as it runs alright after initial startup, but the coolant system is pressurized and will bleed off the pressure after you shut the car off. Pull the plugs and see which 1(s) have nasty goop on them.

Yes im having to add coolant probably every other week. It doesnt get really low but i like to keep radiator topped off so when i see fins i fill it up.

Oh another thing i forgot to mention is that it also has this habit of filling the resevoir/overflow.

Def a head/head gasket issue. I would pull the head and take it to the machine shop to have it checked for straightness or cracks. Never seen a Honda head crack but anything possible. If it is warped you can have it skimmed down to a flat surface. Are you sure it was torqued to the right ft/lbs and in the right sequence?

It could be the head gasket or it could be the thermostat I've got a 92 lx with an f22 I'd check both out but the head gasket I would change I've just do a full tune up on it and take the aicv out and spary the piss out of it with carb or brake cleaner its commen with older Hondas to misfire or surge do to the aicv not working right but like I said full tune up

That wouldn't explain the disappearing coolant

Pretty sure i torqued everything properly. Hg was new and i even used that copper stuff to help. Guess it might be the head but surely id have more issues wouldn't i?

Not necessarily, I drove an S10 beater w/ a 2.2liter w/ a warped head for well over a year w/ these exact symptoms. Just had to add coolant every week or so and make sure the oil wasn't getting milky. I don't recommend that as eventually it will wash the rings out but it was a beater lol
