ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Fuel Pump not turning on?

So my Accord has been sitting for about 7 months, will crank but will not start. (Yes i put gas in the tank) I didn't hear the fuel pump come on so i made a hole.

Disconnected the pump, Gave the pump 12 volts from the connection and it came on. Gas started to shoot out of the sides of the injectors? When i connected the fuel pump back together the pump didn't come on. Tried to start the car still nothing just cranks....I tried carb cleaner starts up for 4 seconds and dies. Just throwing that out don't know if it helps.

Your main relay is probably shot.
You seriously cut a hole in the metal above your gas tank? You're lucky that didn't explode!

Come on man i used tin snips to make that hole...lol
Yea im going to the junkyard and picking some up. But lets say that the main relay was not the problem. What would you lean towards?

Got the idea from an old thread: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=180376

The engine cranks, so your ignition switch is fine.
It starts briefly with starter fluid, so it's getting enough spark.
Fuel is clearly making it to the rail if it comes out at the injectors when direct power is applied to the pump.
The main relay is the only likely culprit. The only other possible stuff to look at would be the wiring to the relay.

Ok, tin snips. Good. I've known people to do it with a dremel and a cutting wheel... and that's just idiotic! Where did you start the hole?
My own fuel pump is bad, and I'm not looking forward to dropping my tank after 23 years of NJ winters.

Cool. I might be lazy and do it that way! Dropped my friend's tank last year, and we still haven't put it all back together again.

Anyway, pull the main relay and take a look at it. If you have a strong magnifying glass, examine the solder joints for cracks. Or just resolder all of them, if you know what you're doing with a soldering iron. It can be a pain in the ass, but cheaper than buying a new one.

Have you swapped computers? What about that main relay under the dash that shit waaaay up in the corner that thick black box just above the fuse panel?. I remember when my car didn't want to cut on how I took that out and swapped it no problems since then.

Okay so your not getting power at the pump did you check for power and resistance at the relay where it plugs into with a multimeter? Also did you check all your fuses?

If jumping the relay gets your fuel pump to come on, I would think there is a problem with the control side of your relay circuit.

At the enercia switch, you should be able to ground one side of your test light and connect the other side to your lead. With the key turned on, your light should light.

On the relay socket, there should be four contacts. Two are the power contacts, these are the ones you shorted across. They are the ones that apply voltage to the fuel pump.
The other two are the control contacts, which run through a coil within the relay and energize it. One contact will be ground and the other should have 12 volts on it. If you place your test light inbetween these two contacts, when you first turn the key on, the light should come on and than go off. If this doesn't happen, you are not getting voltage to the relay or the ground path is broken.

Post what you find and we can go from there.

Fuse box was the first thing i checked
Ok that shouldn't be too bad i removed my dash last week lol

Ok update, followed the wires from the main relay everything checked out ok until i got to the fuse box, i found the this relay connected the fuse box
had a black wire hanging off to the side(assuming its ground)but it was cut and i cannot find the other end.
                          Also found this plug:

Wire colors are blue/red and white/yellow

Have you trying using a voltmeter to test the fuel-pump itself?
Connect the wires and merge the negative and the other cables to see if there's actually JUICE to the fuel-pump. If it is; Good night fuel-pump.

                              If it ain't, you're f*cked.
.. No, not really ;b But your problem lies somewhere else then.
