ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

cold air intake on my f22a1 or short ram

So i was convince of buying a cold air intake. I already had it in mind for sure of buying it but now its like i have a f22a1 engine not so great, thinking of swapping a h22a later on. Thats why i have that feeling of regret on the cold air intake. Just thinking of a short ram for right now and later on the h22a doing that cold air intake that i like more then the short ram. I need some suggestion from you guys? I did do me research but its just that i have a crappy engine right now.

Your engine may be crappy, but the intakes will make it look like a shiny piece of crap. Only reason I could suggest one of those is how easy it is to remove them compared to the stock box. Just save the money for something better.

I think it'll be better if i do the rear disc conversion and the 5 lug for right now or what do you think?

            This.

If you do get one go short ram. Just the other day I had dealings with a Mustang that sucked up some water through the filter while driving in the rain with a CIA. He got lucky but it was still a big headache.

Stay away from cold air intakes, I've seen too many bent rods to justify "1-2" HP gain. Buy a Quality short ram intake.

I loved my factory 4th gen prelude intake tube and box when I was F22B2. No resonator, made the right amount of honk, larger box and filter. I just snagged a 'long' 3" SRI from an H23 Prelude at the junkyard with a K&N on it for $5.50, and LOVE it. I can tell a BIG difference from about 5500RPM on up, and a slight difference through the rev range compared to the factory H23 intake tube/box, especially now that the car has an F23A1 in it.

Just remove airbox, buy a coupler and a cone filter. Install, and use a clamp. Done; no more than $30 and 5 minutes.

This, I ran this setup for years. Changed to a metal pipe, no difference except shiny and brittle. Got a hole poked in it from all the previous engine movement. Guess what I will be using next time.

if you go to mcm now on youtube they got one for n/a motors it show they gain like 3-5 kw i beleive so 4-6 hp on a stock n/a a cold air intake the one he is talkin about was on a turbo car that wont show any gains. i put a short ram on my car with a spectre and a tube ran from under the headlight to the cone and on my buddies redneck diesel dyno it showed i gained like 4 nothing to brag about but felt like it needed to be said. lol short ram with a good k&n filter and a shield from the motor to keep the air cool youll be set and cool.

On a factory F22A1 there are far better modifications that your money is better spent on. You could buy one of the cheap stainless headers on eBay and get some replacement MLS gaskets for around a 5hp gain. The only differences between the F22A1 and F22A4 for power in '90 and '91 were that he F22A4 had a true header and a slightly larger exhaust diameter. It was rated at 130hp instead of 125 so the majority of that is just the header. Pair that with a P12 ECU from a '92-'95 Honda Prelude S and you'll have a decent 15hp gain for under $150.
