I just purchased a 91 accord about 2 weeks ago and i noticed when im driving sometimes and i get anywhere from 20-45 MPH, my car feels like its resisting. It feels like the E brake is on when its not. Ill even have the pedal to the floor and it still wont budge until after a few seconds then it picks up the speed but when it stops, my check engine comes on. Any threads i can read up on or any suggestions to hlep with my problem? thanks!

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

^Yup and hopefully the OBD catches the problem, if not check the TPS, EGR and O2 sensor (not in that order).
Check your plugs for fouling and also check the condition of your dizzy and rotor.1993 SE Coupe MRT - 1992 LX Sedan MRT

Please tell me you aren't swapping the transmission. Check the condition of the tcu. The transmissions on these cars are tough.1993 SE Coupe MRT - 1992 LX Sedan MRT

sorry, i worded that wrong. I'm changing the transmission fluids. Im also switching out the spark plugs and possibly changing my headers. I had my moms boyfriend check it out since he knows alot about cars and hes pretty positive that thats the issue. Theres 1 more thing he said thats a little issue but its an easy fix. If all goes well, ill be up and running much better and i can start working on little cosmetic stuff for my car.

Transmission fluid, spark plugs, and header?
Sounds to me like he doesn't know what he is doing and is just throwing stuff out there at random. Changing the transmission fluid is not going to make any difference for a hesitation. And it sure doesn't throw engine trouble codes.
Swapping headers isn't going to make any different either, unless your existing header is cracked and is allowing air into the exhaust. But you would definitely hear it if it were cracked.
Spark plugs? Maybe.
Read the codes before you do anything!!!

To be honest, i dont really know what im doing, I think i put it up in another post that im new to the car community and dont know much about cars, This is my first car ever and I just wanna learn from the roots up since my goal is to get a GTI sometime in the future. Im just going based off what i was told when i had someone check it for me. But dont worry im definitely going based off by the engine codes. Better safe then sorry.

From my line of work (technician), I most often see a valve cover leaking into the cylinders and the spark plugs shot. Just pull the cover and redo the seals (or buy new ones, if the old ones are still alright, clean with brake clean and then use copious amounts of gasket dressing on both sides of the gasket, re-install gaskets). Then replace spark plugs - my personal favorite are the Bosch 4 ground iridium plugs or NGK iridium. If the wires feel shitty, replace as well. At most all of this (no wires) will cost is $25 and 30 minutes. The oil leaking into the cylinders is what causes the lag or hesitation because oil cannot combust like gasoline does, and when the plugs get covered in oil, they don't properly produce a spark to cause the combustion in the chamber resulting in loss of power.

I beg to differ.
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...rk+plug+gasket
'Valve cover gasket' includes the gasket for each spark plug well; those go bad, oil leaks into the cylinder, coats the plug, and omg misfire bro.Last edited by marneus901; 10-05-2014, 12:38 AM.
