ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    chilton or hayes?

I'm planning to get a manual for my 93' 4-door, and i wanted to get your guys opinion on what book is the best for our CB7's.
I know there are the chilton and hayes physical books, and i know about mitchell on demand, pro demand, all data, and identifix, just wondering what you guys think which one is better/worse, or if there's more out there.

Figured I'd just cut right to the point.

A person can use a Chilton or a Haynes unless you end up destroying them in the process.

took me longer trying to find torque values in one (never did jumped online) then swapping the front bearing lol. I mean for the noob theyre ok I guess..I think they make money on people just buying them and never using them (damn expensive too for what it is) ever notice some of the pictures arent even for the car the books about lol.

I second that. I have a hard copy of this and it's all you'll ever need.

No joke! That was the final straw with me, that's funny you said that. I forget how old I was, I was like "Dad, where the fuck are the torque specs in this piece a shit?" He took it and threw it directly in the trash, handed me a Helms and told me, "you get your greasy fingers all over this and I'll kill you."

Ever since, It's been a Helms. Best thing that has ever happened to me since I started turning wrenches. Always more specific information than you really need. Which is just enough.

Chilton covers something like 4 different models of Prelude, 5 different models of Accord. Carbureted, fuel injected, sohc, dohc, vtec, non-vtec, manual, automatic, 2ws, 4ws, coupe, sedan, hatchback, wagon, OBD0, OBD1, 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder...

Haynes sucks too, but at least it focuses only on the one model.

A said, Helm is what you want. It's not cheap, but it'll be one of the best tools you'll ever own.

Chiltons and Haynes are owned by the same company. I've used a Chiltons for years. It's all greasy and weathered, but it's still around. Not going to lie, all the info I have needed to repair my car is there. Except for exoded views of taking apart the transmission.
