ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

looking to buy a press maybe

Looking for a write up/ video that shows how to use a press for wheel bearings and bushings on the cb7 or just how to use it for this sort of thing. I'm thinking about buying a harbor freight press and was wondering what size I need. They have a 6 ton workbench non hydraulic press for around 70. What else car wise could this be used for?

do you think it will break?

the 6 ton ones alright for bushings, however I quickly found out the throat wasnt that big so I wound up buying same dimension angle iron only twice as long, drilled in holes and reassembled it. In hindsight I shouldve held off till the floor standing model was on sale and gotten it, because on sale itd have only been like 40 dollars more than what I put into the 6 ton.

Years back I thought about getting a 6 ton when I was first looking around. But luckily happen upon a coupon for the 20 ton for $99 from HF. I'm so glad I got the stand alone. There have been so many times where the 6 ton would not have been enough to handle some of my projects.

There are plenty of "how to use" presses on Youtube

I also bought different sets of multiple size drivers like below. You can also use your tool sockets with or without an extension for many applications. But I find that driver sets are more stable/controllable.

What everybody else has said. I have the 6 ton press. There are very few things i can actually use it for because it is just not big enough, tall. I used it for my Lower control arm bushings and it worked ok.

Hindsight. I would get the 12 or 20 ton stand up press.

im going to get a 12 ton bottle jack eventually, but this works well for tight spaces and will do anything honda. itll be easy to make a press brake and fab up smaller stuff..probably with just aluminum, maybe even a small die punch

I got the 12 ton press. I got it used for about the price of the 6 ton. Trickiest thing is using it to compress shocks/springs - I need to make better fixtures for supporting the spring seat and cap. Like many things, get as much capacity as you can afford.

Not a fan of anything smaller then a 15 ton press unless you only every using the press for parts small in diameter
