ABS upgrade

so ive been thinking lately of upgrading my brakes
ive searched and all ive found is ABS delete threads.
i was curious if it would be possible to upgrade from std brakes to ABS using parts from a newer model. things i may need? like rear disc, sensors etc?
btw my rides a 1990 EX coupe if this helps

This is one of those instances where it woul be much more cost-effective to get an entirely new car in order to have what you want. The issue is due to the complexity of the system. You would have to have a TON of hard lines from the engine bay, multiple wiring harnesses that run both ends of the car, the ABS control brain, the AB fuse box, all four sensors, rear disc conversion and a new master cylinder.

Is it possible? Sure. But how much are you going to pay for all of these things and are they going to be in decent enough condition to be removed and then reinstalled? Some of the hard lines won't be, I can assure you.

The ABS system in the '92-'93 Accords, and even more so the '91 SE and ALB model, is just not worth upgrading to. It's a pretty old system that doesn't really hold a candle to newer ABS. Not really worth it in my opinion.

Installing ABS would be quite complicated. It's something that even the more experienced and adventurous members here have avoided attempting. It could be done, certainly... but it would be a hassle. [cp]mike posted something about it years ago (and being one of the more accomplished and adventurous members here, he was one that said he would never want to even attempt that.)

Other people that have considered it may have more useful info for you. I have a 92 LX (no ABS), and I've never even looked into the conversion. I like my non-ABS!

I'm working on hacking a 2008 Accord ABS module. It seems pretty simple. It takes input from the wheel sensors, steering angle sensors, and yaw/g sensor along with some CAN commands from the rest of the system. AND it's programmable. Electronic brake distribution can be a wonderful thing when you have a modified braking system.

If I can figure out the algorithm Honda uses, I can change it for use in the CB chassis. It'll be a long trial and error type process, but I need to learn CAN anyway so why not.

I've got ALL the parts, but I won't be attempting it for any of my LXs.

You can buy a CB with ABS already for less that it would cost to upgrade.

Also, something to consider, the brake lines,ABS are one of the first things assembled into the chassis of a new car. It is nearly impossible to configure the system as it would have come from factory.

Use the lines from an ABS equipped car or bend your own.

unless you strip the car down to a bare bodyshell to do a ground-up restoration

In addition new knuckles, cv joints. You could just put a cluster in with the abs light and power it up then act like it's broken like all the other 90's accords I see with abs.
