ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Once again, s light, limp

Fellas please have a solution..... I have changed the vss, I took the tcu out changed about 5 capacitors and two resistors... I've tried to jump the blue connector and I don't get codes for anything.

Before I worked on the tcu, it would go in to limp mode... 1st and 3rd gear
Now after doing the tcu.... It goes into limp mode.... 2nd and 4th

    Any and all input pleassessssseeeee

****** new symptoms--- once it goes into limp mode. No light is on, when I get to a red light and have my foot on the brake, the s light goes on and stays on as long as my foot is on the brake. Once I depress, light goes off????

This is a very common problem with these cars. I had no s light blinking and it was my shift solenoidons the transmission that were bad on mine. You may want yo try a differnt tcu all together as well. Good luck and keep us posted.

x2 for a different tcu and solenoids

Maybe check your solder points over… when I did my tcu I slopped some solder halfway onto another by mistake and almost missed it… also my s light blinked all the time while in limp mode when my tcu capacitors were bad, unplugging the tcu for a couple mins to reset it back to normal for a 20min drive and then back into limp mode once again.
4000watts just so all the haters hear me comin!

Where are the solenoids at? Easy to swap? Yeah my solder point are not crossing anywhere. The s light blinks a few times and does not go into limp mode, then eventually s light stays on and it goes into the limp mode. Any suggestions to get a dependable tcu?

If your S/D4 light is flashing at you, and then later goes into limp mode, it means you have a code, and your TCU is functioning properly. What you need to do is jump the service connector in the passenger side kick panel, count the flashes, reference the meaning of the counted flashes, and go from there. For information on how to jump the service connector, please read the sticky at the top of this section that says 'READ HERE FIRST'.

I've jumped the connector and I don't get any codes.

open the tcu and look for anything burnt. Or acid leaking from the capacitors (cylinder looking things)
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

              Retro!

No codes means a bad TCU, time to open up your current TCU, and maybe try to re-solder your capacitors and resistors. If it is still acting up, your best bet is to acquire another from a junkyard / elsewhere, doing the required maintenance to it (so it doesn't burn out from a leaking/shorting cap), or look at getting a refurbished unit.

The DIY doesn't fix all cases of bad tcu's, but it has fixed over 95% of cases so far. $5 and 30 minutes of your time is all it takes.

Also for anyone unaware, the link to the DIY: 90-93 TCU Fix is in my signature.
