ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Speedo, Tach Dying and Temp bouncing?

    I have a 91 Cb9 wagon with an H22A swap. It's an automatic.

I was driving home from work and I noticed my speedo and tach falling as soon as I let off the gas and my temp gauge jump. I give it gas and it all goes back to normal. Slow down again, same thing...

    Ideas? Any help is appreciated...

EDIT: Check the grounds. All nice and tight. My stereo stopped working and my car alarm is "low". I'm thinking alternator? Thoughts?

EDIT: Alternator is fine. Battery is fine. When I took the stereo cable off the battery, the gauges freak out in park and starts running "funny" (like really low RPM) as it idles...

EDIT: All the lights on my dash are tripping out. Also, turning the lights on turns the clock off...

I'm desperate here. I need to get to and from work...

When the tach acts up, does it do so independently of the engine?
It sounds like you may have multiple problems, unless you can locate a major grounding issue. Closely inspect all wires first. Clean your grounds and battery connections.
If that is all good, then the cluster itself may be failing. The speed sensor may be failing. The igniter may be failing.

It all started literally at the same time

The tach, speedo and temp gauge all act up at once. in unison. Also other dash lights flicker, the stereo goes out and turning the lights on turns the clock off.

That sounds like the cluster is going bad but if all of those problems occurred at once then it's likely a wire either not properly touching something, or completely failing. The clock is supposed to dim when the lights are on not turn off. Something is taking up way too much power where it's not needed. Is everything correctly grounded and the contacts are clean?

Fixed. It was a ground wire. It was badly messed up, so I just replaced it. Also cleaned up everything to.

          Thanks for the help
