ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Distributor fitment issue..HELP!

Okay so to start this off I will say that I had a buddy replace the lower spark plug tube seals for me..(bad idea..should have done it myself or taken it somewhere) now the distributor wont just pop right back in. It looks as if the rocker assembly isn't perfectly lined up with the head correctly. Im new into the sohc game so im unsure of what to do.
    Thanks in advance

Take your rocker assembly off and put it back on if it isn't straight. Make sure nothing is binding. Rotate the crank a couple of times by hand. Then put the distributor on.

I will try that today.. is there a possibility that it could be damaged because of this?

As long as it was torqued and untorqued in the proper sequence you should be good to go.

Were the valve adjusting screws backed off before reinstalling the rocker assembly? If not, then the valve spring load may be responsible for causing the rocker assembly not to seat correctly. I don't think you need to take it completely apart. Back off all the valve adjusters several turns, loosen all the rocker bolts (a little at a time), then retorque them in steps in proper sequence, then adjust the valves.

I'm not too sure if he backed them off or not but I took the whole assembly off, backed off the the adjustment screws and reinstalled..Everything lined up and the dizzy went in without a problem. The car is up and running as of yesterday, had to replace the clutch master cylinder and slave today. Going to drive her tomorrow so hopefully everything goes alright. Thanks for the help.

I disagree. With a good socket, wrench set and torque wrench you can fix damn near everything on the CB. The special tools are more of an investment as the cost of using them outweigh the cost of going to a shop.

I have a ridiculous amount of tools..mostly snap on. I've built a Mitsubishi dual cam turbo (put down just under 500hp at the crank) but the single cam is new territory for me, just a couple new tricks that I needed to learn. The setup of the head is what got me confused, I just need to swap a dual cam into it. Lol
                    Thanks again for the help
