ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Oil Pressure issue...

    Good Day Mates,

Here's the issue with my 92 f22a1, after about 20-30 minutes of driving, the oil pressure light comes on @ idle. Rev the engine, goes off around 1k rpm's, stays off while cruising. Back on at idle, sometimes it seems to want to stall, quick rev smooth as glass.

The back ground of said engine/car. Full rebuild last year, head gasket was bad, traded out rx7 for all the work with my mechanic. We replaced, all seals and gaskets, head was pressure/vacuum checked 3 angle valve job done, new rings cause the pistons were ridiculously clean. Now for the bottom end fun, he did a lot of research about the different color bearings, and sent the crank out and it milled to one bearing size. Also replaced the water pump, and the timing belt stuff as well.

After about 2 months of driving, the oil light started flashing on at idle after she's warmed up. Took it back to mechanic, changed sending unit, doesn't come on as often, but still does nonetheless.

I thought about changing the oil from 5w-30 to 5w-40 to see if that helps?

Any input would be great, Thanks.

The oil pump may be failing. Was that replaced during the rebuild? It sounds as if your mechanic was very detail oriented, so it seems like something that would have been done.

Unfortunately, that was the only part that wasn't replaced. I'm wondering if it's not the pressie relief spring/valve getting stuck open.

He looked the pump over, in and out and said everything looked fine on the pump. That's why it wasn't replaced, I even triple checked with him to make sure. Just so I wouldn't have to worry. It would be different, If this was the first build he's done for me, is actually the third. First wad a mitsubishi, then my ugly go fast sideways rx7, no my I have a family accord.

Yes 5w40 should give you a couple more psi at warm idle, if it idles low you could try and raise the idle a little.

Those things would probably just cover up a potential problem though, I would hook up a oil pressure gauge and see whats going on.

I agree. Getting a gauge on it will definitely let me know what I'm working with. I'll drop the pan today and sniff around under there to see what's what as well.
