ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Power steering delete questions

Hey everyone I know this is probably a noob question but. How does driving a CB without power steering feel? I haven't had much experience driving without it. But I have driven an EK an EG and a 2004 Civic without it, I guess it wasn't too bad. But I know that an Accord is heavier than a Civic. I pretty much want to know if its worth it for daily use, I'd rather get a bit of feedback before I just say screw it and delete it when I put in my H22. Thank you for the help guys.

Take the belt off and try it. I'm interested in this answer from people who have done the manual rack conversion. They say it isn't bad. Our car isn't much heavier than an '04 civic.

Its tough at slow speeds without a manual rack conversion because you're fighting the hydraulics still (the fluid in the rack, compression, etc). I will eventually have to lose the PS in one of my cars and I'm hoping to do the DIY for the manual rack conversion but its not that easy to do, nor do I want to do it. But in the manual rack everything is loosey-goosey and there's no fight.

Thank you for the feedback I'll take the belt off and give it a try next time I take my CB for a ride to the shop.

Well if you do decide to do the DIY I'll for sure take a look at it and see how you like it. And thank you for the feedback.

I took my belt off of my wagon, because the pump started making noise. At first it felt weird, but once I got used to it it was fine. I can feel the car better through turns, that's for sure!

For a track car it makes sense

For a street car it doesnt

And you have to make sure you keep the rack properly lubed

              IMO not really worth it.

I thought the hydraulic fluid didn't lube the rack in the first place?

The hydraulic fluid keeps the collar on the rack (16) and gear box cylinder (8) lubricated and cool. If you are not running fluids through the cylinder it can overheat and cause the rack collar to gall the cylinder wall and possibly seize.

In a manual rack conversion you cut the collar off the rack (16) and grease up the rac and ends of the cylinder. Also ensure that you have enough grease on the pinion shaft worm gear (14) and the rack(16).
