ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    TruHart Suspension?

I have a 1990 Accord 4door lx 5spd. I got this car bone stock and I'm looking to build the suspension first. I've seen TruHart springs and struts advertised before for other vehicles. Not much feedback though. I was wondering if anyone has used or know anything about them. I can't seem to find spring rates just 2.5 front and 2.25 rear drop. Thanks

I would be cautious with unknown rates with that much drop. Call or email the manufacturer and make sure you ask for the rates in lb/in.
Be unique, like every other person.

      TruHart = Generic Junk.

Stick with name brands.....Koni, Tokico, and KYB for shocks, and Eibach, H&R, Tein, and Neuspeed for springs.

          Agreed. Total crap.

Also, stay away from anything made by KYB, or lower-end Tokico if you intend to lower 1.5" or more. They just aren't valved to handle such a drop (and most springs on the market will lower a minimum of 1.5" to 1.8".) Tokico Illuminas will handle a drop, but they're nearly as pricey as Koni Sports (Yellows)... and inferior in every way, in my opinion.
Koni Yellows are the best you'll get for a reasonable price, and they'll handle whatever you can throw at them. They're not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Bilsteins are also fantastic, but I don't believe they make anything truly performance-oriented for us. You'd need to have a set revalved to properly handle a drop, and that will certainly get expensive.

If you are going to lower your ride that much, you'll get negative camber. I don't know if you will want to correct that with a camber kit, but I would, since I'm a stickler about my tires wearing evenly.

Check out the sticky thread in the Beginner Appearance Section titled: "Common Beginner Appearance Info can be found in here...."
and go to the Lowering FAQs page.

A quality camber kit is always a smart investment. The good ones aren't cheap (and the cheap ones aren't safe)... but they're cheaper than a new set of tires!

I know that Megan racing is one of those brands to stay away from in general, and the forum supports Ingalls products, but what about SPC Performance camber kits? They make kits for 1.5" max drops and 3.0" max drops. The full 1.5" drop kit is $300.

Ingalls and SPC are the brands I would trust most.
I don't know if they still exist, but I believe Progress and perhaps Neuspeed once offered non-adjustable camber kits as well.

awesome feedback I'd like to build this car with idea of very spirited back road driving. I want the car to be able to handle as well as it possibly can.

Im also upgrading my suspension components.... Why is Megan racing getting a bad rep? I had full Megan racing suspension on my Miata and it was fantastic!

PLEASE let me know quickly as I will be making a purchase within the next few days... Coilovers, camberkit, strut bar.

Megan Racing makes knockoff products (like OBX). They do no real R&D of their own. They only copy designs made by other companies, and likely use inexpensive materials and manufacturing processes in the production of their products.

I have heard decent reports of their full coilover system (which isn't nearly as inexpensive as most of their other products), and I've heard that it's a copy of the Tanabe Sustec system. Still, I wouldn't waste my money on it. There are far better options out there.

Personally, I prefer a static spring with an adjustable shock... so H&R or Neuspeed springs paired with Koni Yellow shocks are ideal for me. If you want an adjustable setup, Koni Yellow shocks and Ground Control coilover sleeves are a great option. There aren't many reasonably-priced full coilovers for our cars that offer any real performance. Function and Form Autolife has some decent offerings, but even they say that their suspension systems are good only for amateur track use. If you want to do anything more than the occasional track day, you'll need better.

For a camber kit, see the brands i mentioned above. Don't go cheap there. I made that mistake, and almost lost my car (maybe even my life) when one broke at 65mph while I was in the left lane during rush hour. Thankfully, a very small piece of metal held until I got home (less than 1/4")

Strut bar... you can go cheap there. I actually have a Megan Racing bar in my car at the moment, and I'm pleased with it. It's a knockoff of the DC Sports design. There are better bars on the market (the bars made by ESP, and the Neuspeed 4 point front strut bar... only good on cars that don't have a DOHC engine swap, however.)

Yes, the ESP bars are compatible with DOHC engines. I wasn't clear in my post. I just meant that the Neuspeed bar doesn't fit!

ESP made those bars above largely due to the requests of members on this forum. Guys with H swaps were bummed that they couldn't use the awesome Neuspeed design, and ESP provided us with another option that was superior to the standard 2 point design. The fact that it's a solid brace, rather than an adjustable one (like the DC Sports design) makes it superior as well.

I didnt even know there was a 4 point FRONT..weird. I think a triangulated one would be more than enough on a stock car especially without fender braces or subframe braces. Just keeping things concise not to insult.
