ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    kamikaze header

I was just wondering if anyone on here has purchased and ran/runs a Kamikaze header. I know that the price reflects the quality and at 320 it seems like this should be decently built and can make some power albeit being a 4-1. Ive had an ebay header in the past and have no complaints with them, with a little reworking they can be reliable and get the job done but Im more interested in getting something that is made to work other then a Bisi header. My mods are minimal for now and more would come before the purchase such as H22 upper plenum and cam plus supporting mods but just looking to see if anyone has had results using there product?

I have no personal experience with the Kamikaze header, but a friend of mine has used one. He was very dissatisfied with the build quality and fitment. If I recall correctly, it leaked regardless of his best efforts. My friend is very meticulous, and never halfasses anything... so when he says something is poorly made, I believe him.
Unfortunately, the Kamikaze header really is the next best thing for the F22A.

The only other reasonable option would be to acquire a DC Sports header (very well made), and have a 2.25" or 2.5" collector welded on. If you buy new, the price is likely to exceed $400, unless you have connections... but personally, I'd go that route over Kamikaze.

Dang thats why I was curious about it and cautious as well didnt seem like there was anyone chomping at the bits over it. Thanks for the info man Imma have to research some more maybe just do what I did with my last eBay header, get one and clean it up for now.

and for reference a 2.25" collector is better for the f22 in mostly stock form and even h22's. true hytech headers that have a 2.5" collector actually have a 2.25" choke point right as the two tubes merge.

Well alot of the reasons why I was looking at the kamikaze was I thought it was all one piece but the picture on Andy's auto sport, where I've got parts before, isn't even the right one for our cars. I looked on the kamikaze website and the one they show on Andy's is for a civic so thereon lies the confusion I was having about it leaking haha. Ive researched some more and have looked around at Pacesetter and the DC, and also found a down pipe made by Bosal dont think its any larger of a outlet tho. I was thinking of trying the a4 manifold with the Bosal down pipe because it looks less bottle necked at the end of it.

Crazy stupid thought what if I bought an ebay 4-2-1header, cut off the collector and ran the exhaust back out the side like I have now but individually with a slightly larger diameter from the two pipes coming down essentially letting two cylinders share one exhaust or would this the ruin scavenging effect and back pressure entirely....remember this is just a crazy stupid idea

not a big fan of ebay headers they are usually crappy material and fitment sucks

First off, nobody needs back pressure. Anything you've heard regarding that is a complete myth. However, running two cylinders at a time into separate pipes would indeed ruin any scavenging effects, and would likely result in a very turbulent flow. Rather than a steady stream of exhaust keeping up velocity, you'll have waves... waves that will slow and crash into each other, essentially creating a restriction greater than the one you attempted to eliminate. Additionally, too short of an exhaust route can potentially result in burnt exhaust valves. It's unlikely that your side exit design would, as I'm sure that at least works well enough to draw the exhaust away (unlike running without a header), but still... not worth the risk.

"ebay" headers (in quotes, as there are literally dozens of no-name brands on ebay... with varying degrees of quality) can be a gamble... but if you find one that fits well and has quality welds, then it might be worth modifying the collector.
Still, I'd see a DC Sports header being a much better candidate for that. I'd likely source my collector from Burns Stainless, and they aren't cheap.

Another option is to find a used Bisimoto header. I've seen used ones (or even unused ones, sold as the result of an abandoned project) selling for $600 or so. Even though they're supposedly custom built to the specs of the original buyer, I very highly doubt the truth of that. Fitment issues seem to be common with the Bisimoto pieces as well. However, regardless of all that, they still produce the most impressive results.

Also, stay away from Andy's. Stay far, far away! One of the moderators here once ordered a body kit from them. They sent him a kit for a totally different car, and then gave him a hard time about returning it. I think in the end, he still had to pay return shipping to correct THEIR mistake.

Dang that sucks about Andy's I've purchased lowering spring from them before and they called me and said they were out of stock on the ones I ordered and offered me Megan's instead which I was okay with. But yes a burns collector will be expensive but definitely worth the price.. in the end im sure I will wait and just get a DC thanks for the help on this guys Ive gathered alot of info and looks like it will be the best option. Just another question has the a4 manifold been tested yet against the a6 has anyone seen actual results or is a waste of time..I was just thinking for now since I can get one cheap around here.

Megan Racing is total crap. I'd never trust my life to their suspension components!

The A4 manifold has not been tested against the A6. Dyno time is too expensive, and the gains would be difficult to measure. It is often assumed that the A4 piece, being tubular, is superior... but it may not be true. Chances are that the differences will be so slight that they wouldn't be noticed.

Yea they rode like shit this was back when I had my cavalier and not many parts were available... But thats what I was thinking in theory it looks like thier could be a difference but in the end there is a reason why each f22 has thier own manifold, assume due to r&d while building them idk but it sounds like a DC header will be making its way on sometime this summer and building it from there

I wouldnt call it a choke point as much as a merge collector.

Yup. And somebody got banned, too. I can only assume that he was the seller, seeing as the items listed are only vaguely related to the question at hand.
